I've been putting off writing this column because as an astrologer I don’t like to stick my neck out and make a wrong prediction. My 2004 election prediction got ripped off by voter fraud and voting machine tampering and I can’t say it won’t happen again, particularly with Mercury retrograding like it was in 2000.
I set up a chart for Election Day and I’ve been trying to make sense of it for several weeks now. I also looked at the Republican and Democratic Party’s charts and our country’s chart along with the cycles for Election Day.
Let’s look at the Election Day chart, which tells us the basic energies for November 07th. I picked 8:00 PM because that’s the time the polls close in the West and we get a pretty good picture of how the election is turning out. With the five Scorpio planets, sexual issues are front and center. Many of the sexual issues so far have concerned outed hypocritical gay Republicans who have towed the party line on its anti-homosexual agenda. They are greedy Republicans first, homosexuals second.
Sexual hypocrisy has played out in the Allen/Webb race in Virginia, with the Republicans castigating Webb for his sexy novels while Lynn Cheney, the V.P.’s wife has had to answer for the lesbian novel about the old west she wrote and published decades ago.
With the Scorpio planets in the fifth house of children of the Election Day chart, the light of truth from the print media as well as television has focused on Republican pedophilia. Saturn (karma and limitation) in the 3rd house of communication is making stressful square aspects to Venus Mercury and Jupiter in the fifth house (children). Neptune (fraud and illusion) in the 9th house of publishing and religion square Mercury, Venus, and the Sun in the fifth house of children shows the deception that is finally being unmasked. With Neptune the planet of deception in the 9th house, the religious conservatives have also been deceived and duped by Republicans that have used them to hold onto power, despite having homosexuals and pedophiles (they are not the same) in their midst who have secretly made fun of them. With Neptune in the 9th house, though, fundamentalists are in denial and refuse to accept the light of their own Christ, revealing the Republican perfidy as well as their own prejudice against homosexuals.
Another indicator that the dark side could go belly up during this election is the Moon in Gemini moving into an opposition to Pluto and squaring the North and South Nodes. Hopefully with Saturn making a positive aspect to intimidating Pluto this energy pattern will yield a further dark revelation if the Republicans attempt another fraudulent election. Of course, it also could mean that the Dark Side triumphs in yet another Election Day debacle.
Psychic Chuck thinks Mercury retrograde would affect the election in the following way: the Republicans could win the election with voter fraud but this is later unmasked with the result of re-counting those ballots spoiled by hacked voting machines and the Democrats taking control of Congress in January.
A Uranus aspect, the planet of revolution, may support Psychic Chuck's impression. On election day it will be 3 degrees away from a conjunction with the Midheaven and trine Mars and the Sun. This might mean a change of which party is in control of Congress in January when Uranus' is almost within one degree of the Election Day Midheaven.
My very first impression weeks ago was that Democrats would win the House and the Republicans, because Mercury is retrograde and they have the money, would try to contest every close election they could.
But Psychic Chuck may be right. Karl Rove seemed awfully sure of himself when asked about the Republican Party’s chances. On the other hand, maybe he’s unaware of how the Republican worm has turned. Forced into the underground, we could get a reprieve while it waits for another time to offer its hallucinatory spice to the world.
