Today, Psychic Vera posted a hundred dollar reward for proof that the Republican Florida Secretary of State known as Katherine Harris is really a man.

"It is quite possible that this individual is in drag," Vera said. "And I'm willing to pay to clear this matter up."

Noting that something was not quite right about her, Vera said that the heavily rouged cheeks and lavender eye shadow, along with the higher right eyebrow are clues to her actual gender. "Real woman generally don't want to look like clownish prostitutes," the psychic said.

Vera added that Florida's Secretary of State is doing her darndest to make sure her friend and mentor, George W. Bush becomes the next president of the United States. If successful in her goal of disallowing a manual re-count of votes in heavily Democratic Palm Beach county, she will get the Republicans into the White House.

In other news, the psychic made the following comments on last weeks election:

if the Palm Beach County ballots are manually recounted. There were too many voting irregularities in Palm Beach to allow the current machine totals to stand. First there was the illegal butterfly ballot which caused voters to vote for rightwinger Pat Buchanan instead of Al Gore in a county that is clearly Democratic. Then there were the thousands of ballots in which no presidential candidate was picked because the voting machines were not registering votes that weren't punched all the way through.

The Republicans know that Gore has won the election and are hysterically trying to block the recount from going forward. Meanwhile Jeb Bush is worried that not only will his brother lose the election, but he, himself, will be implicated in voter fraud.

The last time Mercury was retrograde during an election was 1960 when John Kennedy only won by a little over a 100,000 votes against Richard Nixon. But unlike the 1960 election, Mercury changed course right on election day at 6:30 PM. Mercury retrograde is the term used to describe the apparent motion of Mercury in relationship to the Earth. From our perspective, Mercury appears to move backwards in the heavens. In reality, the Earth overtakes the normally faster moving planet in it's revolution around the Sun. Mercury retrograde occurs three times a year and it's influence generally lasts about a month.

During Mercury retrograde periods machinery breaks down, communication gets confused and it's not a good time to begin a new enterprise. Train wrecks and airplane crashes are common during this period.

Up to the day of the election while Mercury was still retrograde, pundits and pollsters were predicting a small Bush victory. Bush and his operatives were overly confident. Psychic Vera suspected that after Mercury was no longer retrograde, the election results would start to move in Gore's favor.

There would have been a much clearer victory for Gore if Florida didn't have a slew of voting problems and George Bush's brother, Jeb, was not governor of that state.

Psychic Vera believes that the Florida governor paid his operatives to tamper with the votes in various precincts to tilt the election towards his brother.

"All the men in the Bush family have been involved in sleazy deals," the psychic said. "Jeb is heavily involved with the corrupt Cuban-American community in Florida, while Neil Bush, the youngest son, was embroiled in the Savings and Loan debacle. Then there is George senior who not only supported Pinochet, the murderous former dictator of Chile, but is often paid to speak by the corrupt right wing Moonies. George senior has a mutable t-square in his chart," Vera said, "which indicates that he is an opportunist with no real values. Unfortunately, his children have inherited his lack of ideals." Psychic Vera called for an end to the Republican Party. How this was going to be accomplished she didn't say, but she did indicate that as long as the Republican Party is shaking hands with the Devil, it was going to continue to create dangerous mischief around the country.

"Even though there are some decent Republican politicians in America," she said, "many of them are hypocritical, disingenuous, greedy and unfair, and still others are down right evil. As long as this party includes so many of these nefarious individuals as its members, the group should be disbanded. We don't need them playing havoc with our government and electional processes.

If the Republican party could divest itself of the influence of religious right wing leaders who preach hate and practice a demonicly influenced religion that has nothing in common with real Christianity, the Republicans could re-join our government and work with the Democrats towards a common good. Many issues have to be settled in the next several years if humankind is to move toward spiritual happiness and an equal opportunity for all. We cannot afford to have disruptive individuals pull us back into legislative chaos. Ill-conceived and felonious Republican efforts to dump President Clinton last year has produced a do-nothing Congress that has failed to deal with significant problems. Are we going to be able to control global warming, provide health care for all Americans, control guns, protect our air and water, support a progressive economy, stop genocide around the world? Not unless the Republican Party ships up or ships out.
