The press bears a great deal of responsibility in the common depiction of George W. Bush, in building up his image, which, as it has been projected, bears very little resemblance to how he performs as President. He was depicted as decisive, in command, somebody who completely grasped and was in synch with the needs of the difficult moment the country faced on September 11. In fact, he is manipulated by his staff, buffeted by the neoconservatives inside his administration, kept from important information, unknowledgeable about so much information, makes decisions on the most simplistic basis, never carries through on his own policies such as the Roadmap to Peace in the Middle East, operates in a closed, small circle, doesn't seek out information independently, has fostered internecine warfare within the National Security Apparatus between the intelligence the Defense Department and the National Security Council. Sidney Blumenthal, former assistant and advisor to President Clinton and author of The Clinton Wars.
Recently, Time magazine had a picture of Bush on the cover with a kiss on one side of his face while the other side sported a black eye. Although the article explored the dichotomy of viewpoints about Bush held by the American people, it appears that journalists and pundits have just discovered Bush hatred and, for the most part, they don't understand it. Some think that the liberals are going off their nut, are ready for the looney bin.The intensity of the negative feelings towards the president boggles their mind. If they went out and talked to regular people instead of staying insulated with their own kind, they wouldn't be as flummoxed. Every day someone tells me that they are disgusted by Bush and can't bear to look at him; every time he comes on the TV, they switch channels. Here's why people hate.
Bush is a stupid little rich boy, they feel, who has no understanding of the world of the poor or middle class and has no desire to learn more. He's terribly self-absorbed and has no interest in doing what's best for the country, but is only focused on doing what's best for his rich friends and himself. People hate Bush because he's willing to destroy the environment, allow our young men and women to be killed in Iraq, support the corporations in their rape and pillage of the country, all for some illusive greater purpose that's in reality a giant fraud.
In general, Bush haters love America and want to see every citizen reap the benefits of living here. They are proud of the Constitution and our democracy and they are deeply disturbed when they see their ideals squashed by Bush and his sickly ilk. Because they've always believed that the United States was the best country in the world, they can't stand to see it become a world pariah.
Bush offends those people that believe in community, that desire equal rights for all Americans, that long for peace, prosperity and the good life. What parents don't want the best for their children? Selfish parents like Bush, who lie to themselves about their own level of self-interest and their lack of charity towards others, could care less about what happens to the American community.
Sidney Blumenthal in his interview with William Pitt for truthout.org says that the picture the media paints of Bush is an illusion. As indicated by the cover of Time, the American people seem to be equally divided between those that buy this Neptunian illusion and love Bush and those that see through it and despise him. This dichotomy is much more intense with Bush than it was with Bill Clinton. Despite the Clinton hatred still voiced by idiots like Rush Limbaugh, no more than about a third of the population really wanted him impeached. Presently, one half the population would like Bush out of the White House, one way or another.
With Bush's birth chart Neptune square his Sun, it's easy for an astrologer to see his deceptive and fraudulent persona. Grant Levi in Heaven Knows What says about this aspect, "This is a treacherous aspect, subtly weakening the will power and making one susceptible to influences that arise not always from worthy sources. You are a sensationalist and will go out of your way for the bizarre, the unusual, or the mysterious in experience. You have to look out for this tendency, which leads you to seek strange and unreliable associates (like Cheney, Perle, Wolfowitz,) . A certain nebulous and impractical idealism attaches to your emotional and thought processes. You are likely to think in beautiful and vague circles and to give yourself up to dreams and emotions of a hypnotic and dangerous quality (He thinks he was chosen by God to eradicate evil). Reason should be your constant aim, and you should avoid thinking or acting along inspiration, intuitive, or sensational lines. (Bush shouldn't go with his gut feelings as he says he likes to do.)"
Once again Mercury is retrograde December 17 to January 6. However, most astrologers will tell you that the 10 days before it goes retrograde, life goes awry. During Mercury retrograde periods communication gets screwy, machines go on the blink and there are glitches in transportation. Appointments are cancelled and projects don't turn out as expected. Don't sign contracts or papers during this period. This is the time to go back over old projects instead of starting new ones.
Until the December 30th Mercury will be in Capricorn and will specifically affect that Sun Sign. Since Capricorn is the sign of government, there should be more confusing and deceptive communications coming out of Congress and the White House. Today, for example, Bush signed the Medicare bill which is a deceptive and dangerous piece of legislation. But since he signed it near within that ten day period before Mercury retrograde, it will probably not be implemented as it is, particularly if a Democrat wins the 2004 election. I suspect it will be rescinded before it takes affect in 2006. It will be interesting to see how many other bills are signed during this retrograde period and track what eventually happens to them.
