January 29 Sandra Day O'Connor: A Cold Fish If I Ever Saw One After reading Dan Baum's review of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's new autobiography, Lazy B, in the Chicago Tribune Online,I can certainly understand why she voted to give George Bush the presidency, despite the wishes of the voters. Although I haven't read her book and I'm just relying on Baum's book review, I've gathered enough information to label her as a cold fish and to analyze her astrological chart. Cold fish is an old term, often used by my mother to describe an individual, usually a man, who according to Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable,"seem to have no warm feelings, was unemotional and impassive." As an Aries with Uranus conjunct her Sun sign and square her Saturn, and with Moon in Aquarius, cold, mannish, and unemotional is a good description of her character as exhibited in Dan Baum's review. Further, with Venus square Saturn, her coldness extends into her love life. Having never experienced love from her cold father, she finds it difficult to express love in her relationships. An impulsive Aries woman born during the Depression with opposite planets Uranus and Saturn strongly affecting the expression of her ego would be extremely frustrated. While Uranus is unconventional and independent(she did become a Supreme Court justice, after all), the influence of Saturn inhibits this free expression and forces her to exert repressive control over herself and her environment. Apparently, she voted to crown George Bush because she wants to retire and didn't want Al Gore to appoint a more liberal judge in her place. Sandra inherited her cold fishiness from an erratic and authoritarian father(he ropes little girl Sandra and her cousin by their necks and drags them out of a cow trough and publically humiliates her mother, among other things). She describes her treatment by her father and the vicious drunkenness of the ranch's cowboys with no emotion. One cowboy, named Jim, tortures wild horses with a rope and tells a young cowboy to ride on top a wagon load of ocotillo(cactus) plants. Poor old Jim also beat his wife but Sandra's father didn't want her to call the sheriff because he thought they'd "better leave well enough alone." Her Saturn related cold selfishness is exhibited when she describes how her father would have lost his ranch during the drought in 1934 if the government under FDR had not bought his dying cattle, and then goes on to say that her father along with other ranchers, hated the idea of a greater role for the federal government. "They believed in private initiative to solve all problems," O'Connor says. This self-centered hypocrisy is typical of Republicans who claim that they don't want the federal government interfering in their business unless they benefit from it. How about Senator Phil Gramm who hates the idea of the feds interfering with businesses like Enron (his wife was on the board of directors), but didn't use "private initiative" to solve the problem of getting a college education. He took out government loans. Or how about the Republican dominated Supreme Court's usurping of state's rights and the will of the voter in the last election. Isn't that a expanded role for the federal government? An interesting addendum to the description of O'Connor's character lies in the symbol for her Aries Sun Sign as outlined in the book, The Zodiac Image Handbook, The Cardinal Signs, by Helene and Willem Koppejan: Having taken a winding and steep route at the edge of a ravine in a mountain landscape, a man on horseback is proudly looking around him. In a deep valley below him to the right, labourers are working with pick-axes. Those with this symbol prominent are described as,"...not put off by a high position and great responsibility but will bear it with pride and fervor." That's the good side of O'Connor. But, "her position may be rather detached and her work may leave her heart cold," and, "It is a dangerous degree in terms of spiritual dangers of the pride that may develop when service is forgotten; the individual could fall from her high-riding position down into the cavern." I wonder if O'Connor is going to eventually fall into a cavern before she dies. She's certainly not been of service to her country, despite her position as Supreme Court Justice. Instead of giving the voters their just due, she helped install a man as president, who, despite his high position in the polls, is leading the country into financial ruin. Kenneth Lay: All Hat and No Cattle I first heard the phrase, All Hat and No Cattle, from populist Jim Hightower. I can't remember who he was referring to but it could have been Ronald Reagan. George Bush, of course, fits that description quite well. But so does Kenneth Lay, benighted former head of Enron. Lay is another Aries(born Apr. 15, 1946) but he expresses this energy differently than O'Connor. He has nothing blocking his impulsiveness, his irresponsibility. His lack of hands on stewardship of his company helped lead it into financial ruin. With a Mars Jupiter conjunction in Gemini in a pleasant sextile aspect to his Mercury Sun conjunction, he obviously has the gift of gab and no doubt used this talent to blindside his company's executives and employees with promises of illusory profits to be gained from pie in the sky investments. Presently, Saturn is making a square aspect to Lay's Venus. This indicates that he's not having much fun and his relationship with his wife is on the skids. She just gave a television interview and denied that she or her husband had any knowledge of the deplorable financial state of Enron. Her husband probably told her he had no knowledge of Enron's problems. Husbands mixed up in nefarious schemes usually lie to the wives, unless the little woman is somehow involved with the fraud. Besides the Sun Sign, the aspect that links Lay with O'Connor is Mars opposing Neptune. This is a self-deceptive link, that bases action on illusion. While Lay deceived himself and others about the stability of Enron's finances, O'Connor is self-deceived about her father, her upbringing, and her reasoning behind her vote to install George Bush as president.
Jeb Bush's Daughter Caught Trying to Fill Phony Prescription Apparently, Jeb Bush is starting to reap karma as well for the botched up presidential election in his state. His daughter, Noelle, was jailed for trying to fill a phony prescription for Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug. For those that see no connection between the two events, the presidential election in Florida and his drug-addicted daughter, you have to look beyond the material plane to the spiritual level. Karma can express itself through many different avenues. Like his brother George's twin daughers, Jenna and Barbara, Jeb also has a child with a drug problem. Maybe if he saw the connection between his actions and his family problems, he'd be able to help his daughter overcome her drug addiction. |
