August 27 I've been trying to finish reading two George W. Bush biographies. The first one is Molly Ivins and Lou Dubose's, Shrub, The Short But Happy Political Life of George W. Bush and the second, Fortunate Son is by J.H. Hatfield. Both books are well written, but I'm acutely bored by the life of a man who has delusions of grandeur and believe he has what it takes to make a good president. I don't think I've ever been so bored by a political biography. George W. Bush is a big fat 0 Although most of the time I grow weary while reading his life story, sometimes I'm downright outraged. He has spent much of his life involved in nefarious moneymaking schemes that would have come to nothing if he hadn't had his wealthy family friends to bail him out. I was right about my initial judgment of the man. Bush is a Wuss. He is incapable of being his own man. I read an interesting article in Psychology Today (From Behind the Rhetoric) by Sara Blustain, September/October issue, that analyzed and compared the facial expressions of George W. and Al Gore. This analysis dovetailed nicely with an astrological interpretation of both men's Sun/Moon combination as written about in Heaven Knows What by Grant Levi. First the information from Psychology Today: Bush: Asymmetrical lip raise and lip corner tighten indicates contempt, disdain while his lip funnel reveals that he is playful. When he raises his eyebrows he indicates that he is interested and/or submissive. His facial expressions show him to be not overly serious, at times silly, and contemptuous, although open to others. Gore: Eyebrows down indicate that he is focused and dominant. When he presses his lips or purses them he indicates inhibition and constraint. To sum up, Al Gore is serious, constrained, ponderous, controlled, weighty and dominant. Now the astrological interpretation: Bush: Sun in Cancer/Moon in Libra He has combined independence and dependence, self-sufficiency and a kind of reaching out for companionship. He is charming and other people readily respond to him. He's romantic, loves attention and flattery, and likes to have a lot of people around him. He is afraid of his own emotions because he is afraid of being hurt and fooled. Once he has been too trusting he responds by retreating into his shell of self-protectiveness. His loyalty is to abstractions rather than people and though he is sensitive about himself he disregards other people's feelings. He is not especially constant in love. Gore: Sun in Aries/Moon in Capricorn He is very ambitious which inevitably leads to success. He's a hard person to get the better of because he knows his own mind, and has definite ideas about his direction and how he's going to get to his destination. Furthermore, he lets nothing stand in his way. He may appear sweet and gracious but there's a "hard underlying foundation of rock" that does not yield. He's an excellent business person and chief executive. He is able to control his energy output so he can put it all into constructive action. He has a rigidly controlled personality. He is forcefully expressive without being offensive. Independence is a powerful need. Although worldly, his idealism is practical and hardboiled. Abstract theory doesn't interest him unless it can be applied practically. To sum up, Bush is a charming guy that people like to be around. He's not very dominant and can be contemptuous because he's not overly sensitive about other people's feelings, although he is certainly sensitive about his own. Being a Cancer, he likes to spend more time at home than outside of it, surrounded by his buddies and his family and gets warn out easily being away from the hearth for too long. Not being overly serious or focused and inclined to be dependent makes him rely too much on his advisors, who may be dangerous to the health of the country. Gore, on the other hand, is quite different. His is the more dominant personality and he makes a good chief executive because he knows what he wants and where he's going. He is very controlled, with a strong drive for independence and he is focused on worldly matters. While getting input from advisors, he would readily act on his own judgments. |
