Worst Christmas Sales in Ten Years
If retailers thought the sagging economy was going to get a boost during this Christmas season, they've been sadly mistaken. People were afraid to spend money this year because they're not sure they'll have a job after January 1 or they've already lost their job during this typically Republican recession. Hmm, the worst Christmas sales in 10 years ago would make 1991 as the last really bad Christmas season. Who was in the White House then? Could it be George H..W Bush? Is there a pattern here? A war, a recession, a bad Christmas season. Some people just don't seem to see it because they have no historical memory. Depressions, recessions, wars, stolen elections, all world event just pass them by. I wonder if the evil events of September 11 will even be remembered next year by the flag wavers and George Bush idolaters.

Another Day That Will Live in Infamy
There have now been three days that will live in infamy for this country and two have occurred in the month of December. Both December occurrences have been a threat to our democracy and have taken place astrologically with reference to the United States' chart while the Sun was transiting through the Seventh House of open enemies (the house of war). On December 7, 1941, the enemy was the Japanese who attacked Pearl Harbor. As a result, we entered World War II. On December 12, 2001, the enemy was the Supreme Court who stopped the Florida recount and fraudulently put George W. Bush in the White House. As a result, we've been told to get over it, because we're at war in Afghanistan.

Pat Robertson Lays Another Golden Egg

Once again, TV evangelist Pat Robertson has become buddies with a murderous African dictator. In 1992 he invested millions in Zaire diamond mines because his friend, dictator Mobuto Sese Seko, asked him to do so. Now, according to the latest issue of Church and State and an article by Colbert King in the Washington Post online, Robertson is befriending Liberian strongman, Charles Taylor, in order to get gold out of that west African country. Freedom Gold Limited is the name of the mining company that Robertson created to extract the gold from Liberia. He and Charles Taylor, as well as members of Taylor's cabinet signed the mining agreement in 1999.

Part I
Being subjected to another TV war against an Arab nation, administered (?) by another Bush president after a period of playing footsies with the Enemy, while a sinking economy in America is making the rich richer and the poor poorer is just too much deja vu for me. I'm completely fed up with these dirty Bushies, who I still feel are the biggest stain on our culture and quickly shrinking democracy since that crook, Richard M. Nixon was prominent in American life.
Although the Bushes all appear affable and congenial on the surface, underneath there's a cesspool of greed, selfishness, and self-centeredness that makes the Kennedys look like saints.
If it is true that you can tell something about a man or a woman by the company they keep, we don't have to look any farther than the Bush family connections, which reveal a host of sleazy characters who will certainly end up in the dark place after they are long gone from here.

Bill Gates' Bribe Pays Off
The recent settlement between Microsoft and the Bush Justice Department proves that crime does pay. There are at least two crimes on display in this settlement. Crime number one is the greedy monopoly Microsoft is allowed to continue in lieu of the recent judicial decision, while crime number two is the obvious bribe that Microsoft made to the Bush campaign before the election to support a different outcome than the Clinton administration was pursuing. Dave Sims in his article, "Microsoft settlement seen as a sham by many foes" in the Press Democrat mentions that "according to the Wall Street Journal, it(Microsoft) became a major contributor to the Republican Party after the case came to trial in 1998."

Bush Administration At End of Rope
You can see it in their faces. Pictures of Ashcroft, Ridge, Tommy Thompson, and others in the Bush administration show a haggard bunch that have been completely unprepared for the tasks at hand. Fighting military wars in Afghanistan as well as bioterrorism at home is a bit too much for anybody to contend with. I almost feel sorry for them, but not quite.

Saturn Opposes Pluto
Right now the United States and the entire world are suffering under a Saturn opposing Pluto aspect. The first time it peaked was Aug 5th and it will peak again November 2 at 1:09 am in Washington DC. In relationship to the US chart, the aspect brings severe limitation to the people(Saturn in first house) through terrorism (Pluto in house of enemies--seventh house). Besides this Saturn Pluto aspect, Mercury is also retrograde presently, which causes disasters and mishaps in transportation, communication problems, and difficulties with the mail. The anthrax scare is a combination of these two astrological factors. Many of the scares are hoaxes or mistakes; the ones that are genuine all involve the mail. What an awful combination of planetary aspects to occur at the same time.

Tony Blair: Smart, George W. Bush: Dumb
Bushwatch.com has been publishing information that compares English Prime Minister's Tony Blair's war rhetoric with our own George W's. An article by David Corn quoted in its entirety on bushwatch.com clearly shows the difference in depth of intelligence of the two men. While Bush has used superficial jingoistic platitudes in his speeches, Tony Blair, like Bill Clinton's response to this tragedy, is trying to delve into the reason for it, and find a solution that will get to the root of the Islamic fundamentalists' rage. Blair said, "I believe this is a fight for freedom. And I want to make it a fight for justice too.The starving, the wretched, the dispossessed, the ignorant, those living in want and squalor from the deserts of Northern Africa to the slums of Gaza, to the mountain ranges of Afghanistan, they too are our cause."

Bin Laden Wants To Die
According to Abdel Barin Atwan, Editor-in-Chief of the Palestianian newspaper, Al Quds, Osama Bin Laden wants to die a martyr's death and is unhappy that he didn't die when he fought the Russians in Afghanistan.
Interpol says that Bin Laden was born March 10, 1957 in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia. If this date is correct, Bid Laden is an evasive, self-sacrificing, delusional Pisces.

Many anti-Bush organizations seem to be suspending their criticism in lieu of the slaughter of the innocents last Tuesday. The Sierra Club, for example, has stopped criticizing Bush on environmental issues. I can't in good conscience, however, stop my criticism because much of the blame for the horrible mass murder in New York can be laid at the feet of the Republicans that have been in the White House since Nixon won the presidency in 1968. Although many Democrats can be accused of complicity with the disastrous foreign policy the Republicans have initiated over the past thirty years, the Republicans are the party of John Wayne shoot em up theatrics, dramas that have supported tacitly or otherwise the slaughter of thousands of individuals in third world countries. Republican Foreign Policy Stinks
Before the Gulf War, the US government under Reagan Bush gave billions of dollars to Saddam Hussein while he was fighting our enemies, the Iranians. We didn't pull back our support when he gassed the Kurds. Evidently the Republicans were making too much money in arm sales. We didn't stand up against Saddam's heinous crimes until he invaded Kuwait and refused to go along with our program. Then we had to spend billions of dollars to get the bastard out of Kuwait, and killed thousands of Iraquis in the process, but left Saddam in power to create more evil (maybe he is the major player behind the recent terrorist attack).

Actually, Hell started on election night and our lives have grown darker and grimmer until we've finally been thrown into the blackest of holes with the terrorist attack in New York. Slaughter of Innocents
The destruction of the World Trade Center consumed all my energy yesterday and filled me with foreboding. While it made me sick to my stomach, my friend Paddy said she vomited three times yesterday morning. I imagine many of us have had the same physical response to this horror. George Bush still couldn't speak correctly about it. He referred to the terrorists as "folks". This word is used for family members or those that you feel chummy with, and should never be used to refer to suicidal psychopaths.

The Republicans are still working on getting John Negroponte confirmed as Ambassador to the UN. I guess if George Bush was dictator like he'd like to be, Negroponte would be a done deal. Hopefully, the Democrats won't allow this weasel to represent us in the UN. He served as ambassador to Honduras from 1981-1985, and looked the other way when the US backed Honduran military regime was accused of gross human rights violations.

Elliott Abrams Redux
Elliott Abrams is a swine. I said this in another journal entry but I'd like to say it again. I remember the 1980's, which Bush II seems to be trying to resurrect out of time, cycle and tune, and how desperate I felt when I realized the Reagan Administration was tacitly supporting Latin American dictators who ordered horrible atrocities perpetuated against their countrymen. Psychically I was fighting a host of evil spirits gaining strength on the astral plane due to Reagan's myopic Alzheimer's. Thank God I was protected from experiencing some of those atrocities in my dreams.

Ralph Nader was either intentionally lying or unintentionally being incredibly stupid when he proclaimed that there was no difference between Bush and Gore, and in fact, told the press that he would probably vote for Bush over Gore if he, himself, was not running for president. In his first five months in the White House, George has far exceeded the expectations of Democratic naysayers and has probably even shocked Saint Nader. According to People for the American Way, Women have been angered and frightened by President Bush's budget proposal to stop requiring health insurers to provide government employees with a full range of contraceptive options. This proposal would limit access to birth control for federal female employees, as well as set a precedent for similar actions by employers in the private sector. This issue came up during the Attorney General's confirmation battle. As Ashcroft was a strong supporter of both a constitutional amendment and federal legislation banning IUD's, birth control pills as well as abortions.

Apparently over 1000 angry demonstrators bared their buttocks to Bush after he made two more gaffs on Thursday. When he said, "Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease," the crowd became annoyed, but he really inflamed the demonstrators when he stated that there should be "more countries" in Europe.

Charm Offensive: Primarily used to describe Bush's offensive attempt to "charm" his critics by making self-depreciating jokes, yuking it up and smirking a lot.
Compassionate Conservativism: Republicans promise to say they're sorry after they screw us.
Civility: Used by Republicans and the White House to describe the mood of Washington since Bush became President. The Republicans are only civil because they have all the power. When Clinton was in office, they were uncivil and hateful.
Bipartisan: a word Bush and the Republicans like to throw around in order to give the voting public the false notion that they are working with the Democrats to do what is best for the rest of us when, in actuality, they are only doing what is best for them and their wealthy friends.
(c) Europeans: New Pres is Alien From Outer Space
Apparently, some Europeans think George Bush may be an alien from outside our solar system; they are so sure that Bush is an extraterrestrial, they were surprised that when his plane landed in Spain today, he didn't say on disembarking, " Take me to your leader." Instead, he flubbed the name of the Spanish Prime Minister. Instead of referring to him as Prime Minister Aznar he said Anzar. The Europeans thought Bush showed his true colors further by mispronouncing words and mangling syntax in Spanish. In an interview on Spanish television he said, "It is a great honor to travel to Spain and visit the King and also Prime Minister Anzar. But I have to practice the very pretty language, and unless I practise I am going to destroy the language." (He's already destroyed English.)

The Bush Girls and Alcoholism
Today is my daughter's birthday, so it seems apropos that I write about Bush's twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara. I don't know if my daughter ever tried to buy liquor under age or use a fake i.d (probably not because she wouldn't want to get caught), but drinking before the age of 21 is not necessarily a problem, unless the individual is prone to alcoholism, which may be the case with the Bush daughters.

There's something malignant about Dick Cheney. He appears reasonable, well-spoken, and quite a bit more intelligent than his superior(George Bush), but his ideas are bad and dangerous. His voting record while he was in the House of Representatives was cruel and his tenure as CEO at Halliburton Oil was amoral and opportunistic. Halliburton made a lot more money while Cheney was head, but it also ignored heinous human rights violations in the countries it did business with.

Jeffords abandonment of the Republican Party is a great relief to everyone that I've talked to, including my friends, Andre and Max in Holland, who follow our politics very closely. Still, there is danger. The Democrats must follow up and make a strong stand against the Bush agenda or the Party will become as periously ineffective as the Weimar Republic. Mercury will be retrograde when Jeffords officially sits in his chair as an independent. There is always the possibility that this Democratic majority is not sustainable, that the Republicans have more dirty tricks up their sleeve. However, Bush won a Mercury retrograde election which makes me believe that everytime Mercury is retrograde in his future, he will have to defend his stolen mandate.

I am sick of boy George Bush. I am sick of thinking about him, reading about him, seeing him even fleetingly on television(I can't watch him for more than five seconds without becoming very angry), and I'm sick of writing about him. I'm sick of his tax cut, I'm sick of his assault on the environment, I'm sick of his transparent greed and selfishness and the cravenness of his friends. I'm sick of Washington DC. I'm sick of Dick Cheney and his supercilious manner. I wish they'd all go away. Fat chance. So I'd like California to withdraw from the union. As a follow-up to my last diary entry on the journalistic whitewash of the Bush administration, Joe Conason who writes for The New York Observer, as well as Salon and other magazines comments on a shocking Washington Post article written by John Harris. In the WP article, Harris actually confirms that journalists are whitewashing Boy George's first 100 days in office. Although he doesn't mention the accelerating monopoly of the media outlets, Harris says that the reason for the whitewash and the difference in coverage of the Clinton and Bush White Houses lies in the strength of the right wing think tanks and propaganda machine.

Something dreadful is happening in the media. Except for a few magazines, newspapers, and Internet sources, the media is whitewashing Bush's first one hundred days in office. If the voters only pay attention to television news, they are getting a skewed vision of what is happening in Washington. Robert Parry in his article, Back on Bended Knee, discusses the lack of personal integrity of the journalists who are whitewashing Bush and his cronies. He also mentions the media's disinterest in the scummy behavior of Republicans in the Florida elections, from the disingenuous coverage of the recount after Bush was installed as president, to Jeb Bush's "ballot security" plan that reduced the large black vote in Florida.
Bush's Enemies List
Right wing journalist, William Kristol, who apparently made the enemies list when he dared to criticize Bush's handling of the China fiasco. Kristol was a supporter of John McCain, anyway, and was never one of Bush's favorites.
Children from 3-6 years old who were frisked at the Easter Roll at the White House. Bush is apparently afraid that the toddlers were carrying stun guns, as well as knives, blackjacks, and maces.

I've decided to keep a journal because I'm having a difficult time keeping up with the shenanigans that the Republicans have in store for the American people now that they've got control of all three branches of the government (hurray, I say, hurray). It's an excellent idea to write down their antics, in order to keep track of which Repulsivan does what. I can make hash marks by each name. When the time comes to tally their infernal behavior, it will be an easy task to send them straight to the Dark Place.

According to Christopher Hitchens in his two articles in Harper's magazine, Henry Kissinger should be investigated for war crimes. After reading about this abominable ex-Secretary of State, I must agree with Hitchens. Although lauded by the press and political pundits, and especially worshiped by political talk show host, Ted Koppel, I wondered why Kissinger continued to receive accolades for his stupid and barbaric foreign policy proposals. Propaganda is a powerful instrument used by the dark forces to control our political system.

Bush wants to abandon California in its hour of need
We're having a big problem with energy out here in California due to deregulation. We've had cycles of rolling blackouts because the utilities are apparently going bankrupt, cannot pay for energy, and don't have enough power in reserve to keep the lights on for everyone. Before the Bush administration came in, the federal Energy department under Bill Richardson helped us out in several ways, one of which was to force the natural gas suppliers to sell to P.G.&E (Pacific Gas and Electric), despite its junkbond rating. Now the Bushies are pondering our problems and thinking about whether to assist us. They don't want to help for several reasons:

A Purple Urn Full of Locusts
I had a distressing vision last night. In it, I saw a a pleasant purple urn. It was brought into the White House and placed on a table in the Oval Office. George Bush walked in soon after and knocked over the urn. A swarm of locusts flew out of it,landed on his desk, and beat their wings in time with the inhalation and exhalation of his breath. It reminded me of the movie, Exorcist II.

We are in Deep Do Do.
I view the next four years with acute apprehension. Suddenly, it seems as though a terrible pall has come over the country. I know it's not just me, because all the people I talk to feel it too. In fact, most of the people I know have been sick with a bad flu, and I can lay the cause of it at the door of the election debacle. At least I haven't felt like writing anything. Thinking about the next president has been too painful. I now remember that it used to be this way, this dreadful pall, during the Reagan years, into the Bush years. It was there too, the dark shroud, during Nixon's evil debacle, but I was too enmeshed in my own psychological and spiritual search during his tenure to pay attention to the outside world. But today I'm fully engaged and I'm having a hard time coping with what I see. WE ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE.
