Moon in Capricorn

Control Issues

Pacific Time

Listen

The Moon is in Capricorn and today we get down to business.  No more Sagittarian folderol or taking time off to smell the flowers.  There’s a square to Saturn at 10:45 AM.  We better use this for organization and hard work because around Noon there’s a conjunction to Pluto, which could mean that someone tries to intimidate us and we subsequently get depressed unless we use the energy for something positive.  Life clears up after 1 PM when the Moon sextiles Jupiter and we feel more upbeat.  When the Moon is in Capricorn, people are cooler emotionally and want to be in control.

In Mayan Astrology it is 11 IX also known as Jaguar.  Today we should work on sorting out relationships and on our healing skills.

Gardening:   Moon in Capricorn:  Good for planting.

February 2

How Stupid Can They Get?

Were Republicans always this stupid?  It seems that they were better in the past, but when I asked my dad years ago, “Aren’t there any good ones, Dad?”  He answered, “The only good Republican is a dead one.”  I think he must have thought they were stupid too because he always liked to tell the story about the time he and my mother told me not to play with a boy that had Down’s Syndrome because he was too rough, and I asked, “What’s wrong with Johnny, is he a Republican?” (Will Sarah Palin go after me now that I’m politically incorrect and have, at least in my youth, compared the stupidity of Republicans to a kid with Downs?)

A recent poll mentioned in an article at Huffington Post doesn’t surprise any of us who’ve been watching Republican shenanigans for quite some time.  So many of the idiots polled believe that Obama is a racist, and a Socialist, and is not a citizen of this country.  Rat, a friend of mine, recently received a phone call from a right wing cousin, living in the South, who said, “Obama is so stupid.”  It’s too bad Rat couldn’t have said,” He’s one of the smartest presidents we’ve ever had in office, and you’re so stupid you can’t even see it.”  Republicans are terrified of this smart black man that makes them look like ignorant turds.

Rat also has another cousin in the South that’s a tad slow and yet he talks about Obama in the affirmative.  So it’s really not Forrest Gump stupidity at all, but something much more sinister, like fear and prejudice, which is based on fear.  These white weenies are so afraid they’re losing their hegemony to women, black, browns, or gays; they’ll believe anything they read or hear that’s derogatory about the president of the United States.

I’m tired of their Republican bullsh*t.  I wish I could feel compassion for them but they and their ilk are destroying this country.  I wish the aliens would just cart them away in their spaceship; they’ll be raptured like they’ve all been praying for.  Instead of heaven, however, they’ll be heading towards a Hell of their own choosing.  That’s how stupid they are.

Aquarius
January 19 to February 18

This is the month for friendship, humanitarian concerns, working with groups to save the planet. It’s not really the month for romantic love even though Valentine’s Day occurs while the Sun is still in this sign. Romantic love is Pisces purview. Do people really feel romantic on February 14th or do they just think they do? Aquarians often have trouble with relationships because they feel more comfortable being detached than personal. If you try to get too personal with an Aquarius, they’ll feel uncomfortable and withdraw. On a higher level, they are meant to use their energies for humanitarian concerns rather than just one to one relationships. Rather than focusing their energies on helping humanity, lower level Aquarians become isolates and end up misanthropic, particularly in their old age.

Besides focusing our energies on groups and humanitarian concerns this month, Aquarius is also the sign of technology, inventions, and cosmic consciousness. Aquarians always seem to know things that the rest of us don’t. It’s a great sign for cosmic intuition and we should try this month to tune in ourselves. All of us need insight into our planet’s future. Aquarians are stubborn and are resistant to changing their minds, even though they can be erratic and abrupt. They like to express their individuality and they don’t like to be tied down by too many rules and regulations.

While the Sun is in Aquarius, Aries likes to focus its energies on humanitarian concerns and groups. Friends get the nod as well. Taurus should spend this month focused on career issues and getting more recognition for their efforts. It’s interesting that such a materialistic sign is involved with humanitarian concerns in their career sector. Gemini is interested in traveling and higher education during this time, expressing their thoughts in a public way, while Cancer is most concerned with sexual issues, joint resources, and questions about death. It’s time for Leo to focus on relationship issues. While Leo can be so personal and upfront, in relationships they enjoy being more emotionally detached. Virgo will focus on health and work-related issues while Libra will be expending more energy with children, love affairs, and creative projects.
Scorpio will focus on the family and home during the Aquarius month. Sagittarius will find itself studying, expanding its knowledge, relating more to neighbors and siblings. It’s the month for Capricorn to be most concerned with its finances while it’s time for Aquarius to take center stage and be more self-expressive. It’s a more reclusive time for Pisces. Spending more time alone and hibernating will help recharge the batteries for the rest of the year.

Jupiter in Pisces
January 17-June 5

As Jupiter travels into Pisces on Sunday, January 17th, the transition period from Aquarius has been marked by an outpouring of aid to Haiti from all over the world.  Pisces is the sign of the underdog and Haiti has been an underdog country for almost two centuries.  During the next year while Jupiter is traveling through this sign, there should be more help for the downtrodden and poorest among us.  At least we’ll have the opportunity to help those in need because most of us will feel more compassionate.

Jupiter creates expansion and greater opportunity as well as excess. It also is the planet of travel, higher education, and publishing. There will be a turning to religion for some, while others will increase their spiritual interests.  Music and other artistic self-expression will be important, particularly if it expresses a spiritual theme or helps the less fortunate.  Concerts to raise money for Haiti are a good example of Jupiter in Pisces energy.

While Jupiter is in Pisces, we’ll have to watch for emotional overload and losing our boundaries.  It’s always important to balance our enthusiasm with reality or we’re sure to be disappointed if things don’t work out as we want them to.

For the next year, Aries will find that spending more time by themselves and doing spiritual work may be to their advantage.    Taurus can benefit if they expand their friendships and work with humanitarian groups.  Geminis can expand their careers, adding service to the disadvantaged to their résumé.  Their careers may also involve traveling or publishing.  Cancer may find traveling and/or higher education expansive while Leo will gain advantage through partner’s or other people’s resources, as well as a possible inheritance.  There may be more sexual opportunities.  Virgo will expand their partnerships, clients, or possibly get married. Libras will gain protection for their health and they’ll find more opportunities in the work place.  Scorpios will find that they expand through activities and time spent with children, lovers, and hobbies.  Sagittarians benefit through property and their homes.  This is a good time to buy a house.   Capricorns finds that they are more interested in spending time with siblings, and/or neighbors.  Aquarians will benefit financially as long as they don’t overspend.  For Pisces, it’s the year to really come out of their shell.  My Pisces friend, Paddy, for example, told me yesterday that she was looking for ways to bring a little happiness into other people’s lives this year.

Capricorn
December 21—January 19

All Capricorns like to be in control and those on the lover level will become dictatorial to maintain it, rationalizing that they know what is best for the group.
Capricorns are a community sign and are interested in what works for a community on the materialistic level. Capricorns are pragmatic and dislike being emotional (because emotions make them feel out of control), although they will sometimes tolerate feelings in others.  Capricorns like organization and they’re ambitious.  They feel guilty if they don’t take responsibility.  Few Capricorns feel comfortable just leading a couch potato life and feel that they must accomplish something important.

According to Alan Oken in his book, Soul Centered Astrology, lower level Capricorns, however, have a “total attachment to the physical plane”.  “Life seems like a constant uphill battle and it is.”  These low life Capricorns, like Richard Nixon and Joseph Stalin are motivated by fear.  Oken goes on to say that self-seeking creates further karmic debts, “until the bricks turn into boulders and the Capricorn collapses under the weight.”  Once the ego is torn, a glimmer of light can penetrate the hard packed earth and a ray of light awakens the unconscious heart.  A higher level Capricorn begins to see the spiritual value within the forms of life.  Whereas before Capricorn was just concerned with money and status, now she or he is interested in taking on responsibility so they can help others.  On the highest level Capricorn is able to manifest the Light of the Spirit into the Material World and become the representative on a community level for it.

January is the best month for getting ourselves organized for the rest of the year.  Starting our exercise programs, dumping possessions that we no longer need, organizing our homes, beginning to actualize our ambitions and learning how to detach ourselves ultimately from a fixation on a material level so we can bring light into our communities are all worthwhile goals.

With the month of Capricorn, Aries will be focused on its career and relationship to authority while Taurus will be more interested in religion and spiritual perspectives (as long as their pragmatic).  Taurus will also be interested in foreign travel and higher learning.  Gemini will be focused on sex, other people’s resources and feelings, and their attitudes towards death.  Cancer will focus on relationships while Leo will be focused on health and its working environment. Virgo will be enjoying hobbies, lovers, and children as well as creative projects. Libra will be focused in the home and with family members.  It’s a good time for them to do some house renovations.  Scorpio will be interested in siblings, neighbors and do more short distance traveling. For Sagittarians, money and the state of their finances will be important, while Capricorn will be more visible this month, being active and asserting themselves.  Aquarius will be in retreat, trying to gather their energies for their astrological year which begins next month while Pisces is interested in being practical about displaying its compassion and working on a community level.

Saturn Vs Uranus--Redux

Despite this astrological aspect presently waning in influence, Saturn opposing Uranus continues to create a disconnect between progressive politicians represented by Uranus and stagnating Republicans represented by Saturn. We see it, for example, in the health care debate and in the climate crisis.  The majority leader of the House, Steny Hoyer said, “The hard choices that are being forced on our country demand engagement from both parties. I'm thinking of challenges like reforming our massive entitlement programs, controlling the growth of health care spending, and responding to climate change -- issues that are fraught with political risk and so easy to demagogue that it is almost impossible for one party to take them on alone. Those challenges are dangerously likely to stay untouched as long as at least one party is willing to be a 'Party of No.”
Apparently, the two warring sides will continue to go at it until the aspect is gone in August of 2010.  At first it may seem that the stagnating Republicans are getting the upper hand because in mythology, Saturn, the son of Uranus, castrates his father and takes over his throne.  Uranus warns Saturn, however, that one of his sons will eventually dethrone him.  Despite Saturn devouring all of his children to prevent this, his wife hides one child, Jupiter aka Zeus, who is not eaten and will later usurp his father.

Too many liberals, represented by Uranus, are willing to desert Obama, who with Aquarius Rising is the midpoint of the seesaw between these two cosmic powers. Aquarius is ruled by both Uranus and Saturn.  Liberals believe that he is a disappointment because he tries to balance progressive action with some conservative restraint.  But short of a revolution (Uranus), we cannot progress without giving Saturn his due.  Interestingly enough, Obama’s Jupiter is in the sign of Aquarius while his Saturn is in Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn (a double whammy).  Should Obama simply accept the role of Uranus (Revolution), he will certainly be overthrown by the Republicans, as represented by Saturn.  Many people are terrified of change (Uranus), despite our present desperate situation and will do everything to stop it (Saturn).  On the other hand, those voters who long for a progressive messiah who will immediately change everything to their liking are not being realistic and are setting us up for failure.

Eventually, if we don’t destroy the planet in the meantime, we will find a solution to global warming, resolve the issues with heath care, create an economic and social environment where there is no longer a divide between the haves and have nots, black and white, or gays and straights.  While Obama is neither the Messiah nor the Anti-Christ, he is the Rainbow Bridge that will connect us to the Aquarian Age as well as to the next cosmic cycle starting in 2012 prophesized by the Mayans centuries ago.

Sagittarius
Nov 21--Dec 21

Sagittarians are outgoing and friendly people, full of enthusiasm about almost every one and every thing. They are particularly interested in religion and foreign cultures. They are philosophical, willing to view the bright side of life, unless he or she is an introverted native of that sign.  When a Sagittarius turns inward, the cynical side becomes more pronounced; the bumbling cynic can be the result, ala Woody Allen.

A low level Sagittarian is impractical, goes to extremes, and is irresponsible and undisciplined.  They don’t want to be pinned down so they have a hard time maintaining relationships.  They are a law onto themselves. Alan Oken in Soul Centered Astrology says, “The urge to increase experience without having a structure or inner truth to guide such expansion leads one into a great diffusion of energy.”  Despite his beautiful voice, the rock singer, Jim Morrison, was a good example of a lower level Sagittarian, along with General George Custer, and Brittany Spears.

According to Oken, a higher end Sag begins to merge with the higher mind and through it, serves humanity.  This higher knowledge merges with Earthly experiences to become wisdom. He or She then becomes a visionary and a prophet.  Even higher side Sagittarians need to learn to control their blunt speech if they don’t want to offend everyone they come into contact with.  A good example of a higher level Sagittarian is Pope John, XXIII, and the wonderful writer, Madeleine L’Engle.

The month of Sagittarius is generally optimistic and upbeat despite the possible bad weather.  It’s a good time for travel, spending more time in the outdoors.
For Aries, Sagittarius is a good time for higher education and travel, associations with foreigners, approaching publishers and publicly expressing your thoughts.  For Taurus, sexual issues, use of other people’s resources and joint resources, working on taxes, contemplating death or getting an inheritance may all come up in late November and December.  Gemini is thinking about partnerships during this time, wondering if they have the ability to commit themselves to any one relationship.  For Cancer it’s time for work related and health issues to come into focus, while Leo likes to rock out and have fun with children in late November and December.  Virgo likes to spend time in the home during the month of Sagittarius and finds that family issues are more important.  Libras may find themselves traveling more and associating more with siblings and neighbors, while Scorpio finds that economic issues come to the surface and need to be dealt with.  This is the time for Sagittarius to shine, to put themselves forward, to be jolly and outgoing while for Capricorn, it’s time to withdraw and to celebrate the Christmas season in a more contemplative manner.  For Aquarius, it’s a good month for group associations, spending more time with friends, concerning themselves with humanitarian concerns.  Pisces will find themselves in the public more and working on their career.

The US Economy

November 5, 2009

Economists say we’ve got the worst economy since the Great Depression.  Astrologers confirm their assumption by noting a similar planetary configuration now as then.  In the 1930s, Saturn was opposing Pluto.  In November of 2009, Saturn is now squaring Pluto.  Both oppositions and squares can create havoc. In the 1930s, Uranus in Aries was part of a T square with Saturn and Pluto.  In 2009 Saturn was opposing Uranus but there was no aspect with Pluto.  Unfortunately, in August of 2010 we’ll see Uranus in Aries again as it was over eighty years ago and in a t-square with Saturn and Pluto.  The second Great Depression is not over yet.

Breaking the planetary aspects down in the US chart tells the story.

Pluto is in the 8th House of the National Debt, taxes, credit, corporate finances, insurance, loans, and death.  Pluto= corporations, catastrophes, death, and financial mergers.  Pluto in the 8th house is a double whammy. There has been a catastrophe (Pluto) created in credit and financial markets, including insurance, which has forced the Federal Government to create over a trillion dollars in debt to help make these financial markets solvent.

Pluto is presently opposing Venus in the 2nd House of Personal Finances.  The money spent on the financial markets (Pluto in the 8th House) has come into direct conflict with the money needed to make US households solvent.   This is also indicative of credit card Companies (8th House) creating more hardship for the American consumer, by raising interest rates and reducing the amount of credit, and making credit much more difficult to come by. This Pluto opposing Venus aspect is also affecting the 6th House of Employment, Unions and Health matters, hindering job creation, and creating blocks to resolving the Health Care issue.

Saturn is in the Fifth House of Speculation and the Stock Market. Saturn=Loss, conservatism, and contraction.  It is square (conflict, stress) to Pluto in the 8th house of credit and corporate finances.  Although the Stock Market has recovered somewhat I wouldn’t bet the farm with this aspect now coming into affect.  With Saturn squaring Venus in the Second House of personal finance, I would advise that the average American investor be very careful about risky investments in the stock market.

There has been lots of collateral damage from these extremely stressful planetary aspects affecting the economy.  While Saturn has been creating losses in the Stock Market as it has traveled through the 5th House, it also indicates that children, also ruled by the 5th House, have suffered grivous losses.  Children have been murdered and kidnapped, often by men that have lost their jobs and can find no employment.  Whole families have been slaughtered.  Recent news has said that 50 percent of the nation’s children are now receiving food stamps.

With Saturn (conservatism) ruling the 9th House of Religion and publically expressed thoughts, right wing religious groups as well as right wing TV and radio personalities like Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh or politicians like Sarah Palin, have become even more vocal and ugly, particularly since Obama was elected.

While Saturn was going through Virgo in the last couple of years, it had been opposing Uranus in Pisces creating a bitter battle between conservatives (Saturn) and Progressives (Uranus).  With Uranus in the 11th house of the Congress, Uranus won out in last year’s election, ushering in a majority of Democrats.  However, this fight will continue when Saturn travels back into Virgo next year.

Meanwhile, Uranus is now opposing Neptune which is in the 5th house of the stock market and speculation.  We said that Uranus in the 11th house of Congress has created a band of progressives that are trying to change (Uranus) the US trajectory as far as health care, global warming, green technology, and gays in the military go.  Neptune rules drugs (illegal and pharmaceuticals).  A conflict between the pharmaceutical industry and the progressives in Congress has been confusing the health care initiatives.  Senator Lieberman, for example, has said he won’t vote for the health care bill if it includes a public option.  Lieberman, a Pisces, a Neptune ruled sign, is under the thumb of Big Pharma due to monies received from same.  His wife is also to blame for his disgraceful lack of support for the public option. She works for this sleazy Neptunian industry.

Is there anything mitigating these disastrous aspects?

Uranus has been making a positive trine aspect to Mercury in the 3rd house of media (including the internet).  Although newspapers have taken a hit, innovative, progressive blogs and websites (Uranus) have helped the American people see the truth.  This aspect may also help support rail as a excellent mode of transportation.

Jupiter has been traveling through the 10th House of government and our national prestige.  Since Obama has been elected, people around the world have changed their tune about Americans and they are back to looking at our country with admiration.  Jupiter is now in Aquarius but when it travels into Pisces in January of 2010, it will begin its positive march towards a trine aspect with Venus, Jupiter and the Sun in the Second House of Money lifting our economy, and hopefully mitigating the sorry aspects of Pluto which will continue to oppose the other Second House planets as it is doing now.  Since Jupiter will still be in the 10th house of the government and the Chief Executive, it is up to Obama to create a job program similar to the WPA to significantly alter the disastrous personal finances of the American public.

It is obvious that these Pluto aspects are calling for a transformation of our entire economy.  Death of the old free market corporate economy and rebirth of a new one that supports a progressive vision and lifestyle for all of our citizens could be on the horizon.  If the stressful Plutonian energies can be used to motivate our society into positive transformation, we’ll all be much better off.   If we are intimidated and refuse to vote wisely like voters in New Jersey and Virginia did on November 4th, we will certainly reap a malignant harvest.  Remember it was George Bush who got us into this disgusting mess and it certainly won’t be a Republican to get us out of it.

Saturn in Libra

It’s a big deal when Saturn changes signs and that happened October 29 when it traveled into Libra.  It will remain in Libra for 2.5 years with a short hiatus in 2010 when it starts retrograding back into Virgo for about 3 months, beginning in April.  The Mutable Signs, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces will be getting a well earned break.  Saturn in Virgo has been pretty tough on some of us, particularly with regards to work and health.  Now it will be the Cardinal Signs’, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn’s turn to suffer the slings and arrows from this difficult planetary energy.  Saturn in Libra indicates that for the next couple of years, there will be lessons to be learned with regards to relationships.  If we fail to pay attention to a weakness in this area of our lives, Saturn will hone in on our Achilles heels.  Libra wants to be fair and balanced and Saturn will make sure we follow through.

For Aries, relationships should take priority.  Responsibilities must be considered when getting involved with any relationship.  You may enter into long term partnerships during the next 2.5 years.  Taurus may find that work becomes harder and that there are responsibilities and issues around fellow employees.  It’s also a good idea to pay attention to your health.  Gemini may find that relationships with lovers and children take on more responsibilities, while there could be losses with gambling or in the stock market.  Cancer finds that home and family attracts more responsibilities.  Be circumspect about buying property during this time.  Leo needs to focus on relationships with siblings.  This is also a good time for serious study.  Virgo will be paying attention to finances while Libra may find that health matters most of all.  Get a check-up, eat a healthy diet.  Scorpio may spend more time by themselves and find that they have insecurities about their marriage or partnership.  Sagittarius might get more involved with friends, or decide they don’t want to bother due to too many responsibilities.  Capricorns will reach the pinnacle of their career and/or take on more concerns in their public life.  Aquarius may find that traveling is more difficult but it’s a good time to take up the responsibility of higher education.  Pisces needs to analyze their sexual relationships, their attitudes towards death, and realize that joint finances bring responsibilities.

Scorpio
Oct 22—Nov 21

First of all, it’s often a struggle being a Scorpio. The emotional energy is so intense for good or ill that it can be difficult to cope with. Sexual desire is a major issue for those of us who have Scorpio planets.  Much of life is spent learning how to use this biological drive and physical pleasure constructively.  Scorpio planets can make us feel vindictive when wronged, possessive when threatened, and enraged when thwarted.  That’s the lower level Scorpion who can sting itself and others with its destructive emotions.  Those of us with Scorpio planets will often attract situations that force us to let go of these damaging emotions.  Death and abandonment are issues that will often compel us to transform our personalities and put the light on the dark parts.

We’ve got to move on, however, and become the higher level Eagle that uses what it has learned about transforming the dark side to help others do the same. The task, however, even for the eagle, is to break free of the chains of desire.  The highest level Scorpion, according to Alan Oken in Soul Centered Astrology “bursts forth aflame with inner radiance and abundant healing and magnetic powers.  The unity of the lower and higher selves has been achieved.”  As the phoenix who rises from the ashes of the desires of the personality, the individual is the “embodiment of love winning out over adversity, harmony arising out of unavoidable conflict and the resurrection of the life force through a totally dedicated and Self-conscious human being.”

Scorpio is the time of year for facing the reality of death, for working on psychological and spiritual transformation, for looking into sexual issues, for dealing with joint finances as well as debts and other people’s resources.

The Sun being in Scorpio affects the 12 signs in the following ways:  If you’re an Aries, you are intensely affected by Scorpio because it means that your 8th house of sex and death is being highlighted.  This is the time to face sexual issues or matters of death, and joint resources.  For Taurus, this is the time to work on intense relationship issues as the Scorpio Sun moves through the Seventh House of Relationships. Dealing with possessiveness and jealousy may be a priority. Gemini will be facing intense work issues, particularly with co-workers or health matters will come into focus as the House of Work and Health are highlighted. Cancer will find that relationships with children and lovers are more important. Leo may have intense experiences with family members because Scorpio rules the House of home and family. For Virgo, Scorpio energy is highlighted with siblings, neighbors.  This is usually the time that Virgo likes to express this intense energy with research and writing since Scorpio rules its House of Communications. Libra spends more of its time with money matters and while it’s Scorpio’s turn for putting themselves forward. This may hard for some Scorpios to do because they are secretive and like to keep a low profile.  Sagittarius has a tendency to withdraw and generally has to face the bogeyman this time of year because Scorpio rules the House of vulnerabilities and isolation. Capricorn is focusing on groups and friendships during this period, while it’s Aquarius’ time to put the focus on career issues. For Pisces this is the time of year for long distance traveling, focusing on higher education and the spiritual life, for publicly expressing your thoughts.

LIBRA
September 22 –October 22

Libra is the sign of the balance and its main thrust in life is to deal equitably in human relationships.  It is often considered wishy-washy because it has a hard time making decisions; it is always trying to balance two sides of any question.  Higher level Libras are the best diplomats and ombudsmen because they can always see another person’s perspective, trying to smooth over difficulties in relationships.  Lower level Libras still have a focus on relationships but they can’t seem to get along in one.  They are rarely diplomatic, often acting in a gauche manner.  My higher level Libra friends always seem to cooperate, to think of my needs as well as their own.  They are kind and supportive.  The lower level Libras I’ve met are rude and are dense about relationships, so much lower in consciousness from the higher level natives.  Lower levels are struggling to make the transition from personal wants and needs to understanding and promoting Right Human Relations as Alan Oken puts it in his book, Soul Centered Astrology.  According to Oken, Libra’s keyword phrase is Let Choice be Made.  There is a tension in Libra he says of opposing forces needing harmony and balance.  This is the battle between the lower and the higher selves.  It is here that Libra is tested and right judgment and proper use of love are cultivated.

When the Sun is in Libra our focus should be relationships:  How to approach them from a balanced perspective.  How to be fair and equitable.  We can also spend time beatifying our surroundings.

Relationships and marriage will be a primary focus for Aries this month as the sign of the ram can be generally too self-centered and me first.  For Taurus the Libra month is a time to contemplate relationships in the working environment, as well as supporting justice and fairness for fellow employees.  The Libra month is Gemini’s time to relax and have some fun, to pursue hobbies, enjoying time with loved ones and children.  Cancer will be exploring relationships with family members and beautifying their homes. Leo will realize that the give and take in conversation is more interesting than dominating it, will be making more short distance trips with partners, focusing on relationships with siblings and neighbors.  Virgo will be spending the Libra month exploring their financial situation and coming to an equitable solution for money difficulties with partners.  For Libra this is their time for putting themselves forward, for hogging some of the limelight for themselves instead of always sharing it with someone else.  Scorpio’s hibernation time is during the month of Libra.  They feel more vulnerable, particularly with regards to their relationships and need this month to sort things out.  Sagittarius likes to meet up with friends and participate in groups in late September and into October while Capricorn will be paying more attention to career issues and relationships with authority figures.  Aquarians may be traveling or focusing on higher education while Pisces will be paying more attention to sexual issues in relationships, questions about death and joint resources.

Robert Novak: Sour Political Commentator and Writer

Listen

Robert Novak died this week. I know somebody must have loved him, and is sad to see him go but I’m not.

I first heard of Robert Novak over twenty years ago when my dad referred to him and his co-host, Rowland Evans, of the Evans and Novak interview show, as the most sour men on television. Knowing my father’s hatred of Richard Nixon, I was astounded that he’d found someone more disagreeable than tricky Dicky. Over the years and after Evans died, Bob Novak continued to grow more miserable every time I saw him. He was so surly and unpleasant, I found it almost impossible to watch him on Crossfire. Most Pisces I’ve met are compassionate and sensitive but he wasn’t or didn’t seem to be. Then again, he only had one Pisces planet, his Sun sign. There was also his Gemini Moon. Talk, talk, babble on, he often put his foot in his mouth, like the time he outed Valerie Plame’s covert agent status in the CIA in one of his newspaper columns.

He had other dreary aspects like Venus(love) conjunct Saturn(limitations) in Capricorn. Talk about standing cold in a blizzard with regards to love and relationships, probably activated by a cold relationship (Venus) with his father (Saturn). Further, this conjunction was in a grand cross with Uranus, the Nodes of the Moon, and Pluto. He probably remained loyal to his wife with the Venus/Saturn complex, but Uranian energy wanted him to break free and may have even given him a desire for a homosexual liaison. With the Venus/Pluto opposition, he certainly wanted to go over to the dark side, at least once in awhile. Maybe that’s why he was so surly and acidic. Repressing sexual energies generally produces a dangerous and unpleasant individual.

He had an unaspected Mars in Cancer. Very touchy, and easily annoyed, he had no outlet for his acerbic personality accept through his poison pen and words. He did have a Sun trine Jupiter, which gave him good luck in his career. I suspect there were times when he was generous, enthusiastic, and warm, particularly with his family since Jupiter was in Cancer. However, he had the standard conservative Sun/Neptune aspect. While this one doesn’t make a person politically conservative as much as it clouds his/her vision and makes them delusional, many Republican operatives, just like our last president have this Sun/Neptune complex, and it has created a lot of problems for the rest of us. Although the US chart doesn’t have this aspect, it does have a Mars/Neptune square, which deludes the men in this country about their so-called masculinity. Combine that particular energy pattern with the Sun/Neptune complex of the right wing politicians, and we have an entire political party and its commentators inhabiting fantasyland.

The Prince of Blackwater

Isn’t it ironic that Erik Prince chose Blackwater as a name for his evil business, which supplies murderous mercenaries in Iraq? Moreover, isn’t it apropos that this Prince of Darkness is now being accused of murder or facilitating the murder of individuals who were working with federal officials investigating Blackwater?

Two individuals have come forward to rat on Prince to legal authorities. Only identified as John Doe, #1, and John Doe #2, their stories cannot be corroborated by The Nation magazine in which this article on Prince appeared. However, their sworn statements are strong indictments of Prince and his company.

Psychic Vera's Diary

Aug 6--Moon in Aquarius

I’ve failed to keep a running commentary on the political situation for several months now. Partly because Psychic Chuck and I’ve been ill with a long-standing virus, I’ve been unable to stomach (literally) the Republicans’ frantic attempts to discredit Obama and destroy everything he is trying to accomplish. They have no heart for the country. They just want Obama to fail so they can get back in power. I’m so sick of them and they are so disgusting, I haven’t been able to take the energy and time to write about them. Our individual lives and our country’s life are filled with danger and these political beasts with their Sun/Neptune delusion, cannot see it. Other delusional people misinterpret the danger and some of them blame it on our president because he is black.

What I know About Leo

July 22—August 22

I know Leo likes to be the center of attention and will sometimes do anything to get it; they even like negative attention. Despite this, they are rarely petty or small-minded.

They like praise and large gestures. They can be generous and magnanimous, take control of any organization and do a wonderful job. People like Leo bosses because they appreciate their employees and tell them so. They can generally speak well and sometimes they can hold us all transfixed. Bill Clinton is like that. So was my father. Unless they’re acting like showoffs they are dignified and respected. They rarely complain so they aren’t often pitied.

Lower level Leos are too egocentric. Always trying to grab the attention, they try to dominate everyone in their vicinity. This can be quite tedious because people soon tire of their constant desire for praise and positive feedback. Although Higher-level Leos like Barek Obama still like the attention, they are more interested in using the dynamism of their will and personality in a positive community setting. According to Alan Oken in Soul Centered Astrology, Leos on a higher level are able to “instill and inspire a group within which he/she serves a central role and function. Leo becomes a vehicle for the creative will as it functions to hold any group together.” Motivated by love instead of just ego, Leo functions beautifully in any community setting as a leader with authentic purpose, receiving plenty of admiration for their efforts.

During the month of August when the Sun is in Leo, Aries will be ready for parties, focusing on their children, creative projects, and entertaining themselves.

Taurus will be focused on the home and their families, real estate, and their roots

Gemini will be immersed in conversations, communications of all sorts, short distance traveling, and relationships with neighbors and siblings.

It’s time for Cancer to work on their finances and their attitude towards money and possessions.

For Leo the month of August is all about themselves. Time to get more attention, time to come out of hiding, time to be dramatic, time to be the boss.

It’s time for Virgo to do the opposite. It’s staying more by yourself time, withdraw for a while. Relax, have a spiritual month. Replenish your energies.

August is Libra’s time to be with friends and join groups while secretive Scorpio is more out in the open and in the public limelight.

Sagittarius finds traveling enjoyable during the month of August or getting ready for school while Capricorn is focused on sex and issues about death and joint finances

Aquarius is spending more time with partners and thinking about relationships while Pisces is more focused on work and health.

CANCER

June 20—July 22

Cancer is the sign of the home and family, particularly the mother and if you’re a Cancer those things are important to you. If you had a dysfunctional relationship with your mother and didn’t get the nurturing you needed, you may try to get it from every person you meet or try to take care of everyone in your life, despite their protests.

Cancers can be sensitive and if you’re a high level Cancer your sensitivity to others is life affirming. You spread your wings and everyone in your environment feels supported and taken care of. If you’re a low level Cancer you respond to every real or imaginary slight in sight. Your feelings are easily hurt and being self-centered, they are infinitely more important than other peoples. The rich bitch and hotel owner, Leona Helmsley, was a Cancer. So, of course, is George W. Bush. Instead of being the Nurturer in Chief, he was the Destroyer in Chief

Cancers, low or high level, like a feeling of rootedness to feel secure. Yet, sometimes Cancers grow the most when they don’t have a secure place to call home. A high level Cancer, the Dalai Lama, has made the whole world his home, after being evicted from Tibet by brutal Chinese landlords.

A low level Cancer can be overwhelmed and controlled by her or his emotions. Once Cancer moves beyond his or her own personal feelings, however, she or he becomes a reservoir of compassion. Cancer is a cardinal sign, which means it likes to take action and Cancer takes action to protect others, to work for the common good. Having a high level Cancer on your side is like having angelic protection. High level Cancers like Cindy Sheehan have worked tirelessly and with great personal sacrifice to protect young people from having to fight and die in Iraq like her son. Another high level Cancer is former Secretary of Labor under Bill Clinton, Robert Reich, who still works night and day to put workers rights on the front burner.

Alan Oken says the following in Soul Centered Astrology about a high level Cancer: This individual “would be found hard at work trying to feed the homeless, creating projects for the best use of agricultural lands, and generally devoting his life to the cohesive networking of men and women of goodwill.”

While the Sun is in Cancer, people are generally more sensitive and security conscious. Home and family are in focus, with the domestic arts taking precedence.

If you’re an Aries, the Cancer month will be spent tending to the home and domestic concerns, including focus on family members. A Taurus, on the other hand, will be spending time improving his or her communication skills, talking, writing, being nurturing with siblings, and making short distance trips.

A Gemini will be tending to money matters and wondering why they insist on clinging to all their possessions. A Cancer will be paying attention to their appearance and working on their self-expression. It’s time to come out of your shell.

A Leo might be moping around when they have to spend more time by themselves, and getting in touch with their hidden insecurities, before their yearly debut in the month of August. It’s Virgo’s month to nurture friends and join groups for the benefit of humanity, while Libras will be out in the public, working on their career and standing in the community.

For Scorpio it’s time to travel and learn, focusing on education and associating with people from foreign countries, or publishing that book. During the Cancer month Sagittarius will be spending more time pondering sex, death, and other people’s money. Capricorn will develop and examine relationships and attract more clients. Aquarius will be focused on work and health related issues while Pisces will be having a merry old time with children, lovers, parties and casinos.

GEMINI

May 20—June 20

Geminis are intellectual wizards. If you’re a Gemini you probably know a lot of things about a lot of things. Much of a Gemini’s knowledge may be superficial and tangential but their communication skills are excellent, unless they have foot in mouth disease. We’ve all met those. A low-level Gemini may never stop talking and they have no interest or time in sharing their word space with anyone else. Geminis like to say what they think. The problem is, that can change in 10 seconds and while a Gemini has moved on, everyone else is left with their cutting words and inappropriate witticisms. Donald Trump and Barbara Bush are Geminis. Low-level Geminis get bored easily and jump from project to project, subject to subject. They’re jack-of-all-trades, master of none. And they can be very indecisive. Gemini is known as the sign of the Twins because two distinct personalities play a role in a Gemini’s psyche. There’s the charming and witty conversationalist and the insensitive gad-about.

High level Geminis, on the other hand, bring harmony to relationships where ever they go. Alan Oken in Soul Centered Astrology says, “The Gemini individual is being used as a conscious vehicle for creating harmonious linkages in the world.” He goes on to say that a high level Gemini “aligns and blends various conflicting political and social forces; acts as an agent for harmony in group interrelations, becomes a diplomat for peace, and inventing technological advances for the benefit of humanity.” I wonder if Rudy Giuliani or Newt Gingrich will ever rise to the level of Bill Moyers, a high level Gemini. Probably not.

If you’re an Aries the Gemini month is a time for beefing up your communication skills, talking, writing, getting in touch with siblings, making short distance trips. If you’re a Taurus, this month is spent working on your finances. Maybe you’ll develop two incomes. For you, Gemini, this is your month for self-expression and paying attention to your appearance, while it’s Cancer’s time of the year for withdrawal, meditation, and dream work, getting in touch with their vulnerabilities. Leos likes to yak it up with friends and get involved with group associations while it’s Virgo’s time to shine and get some public recognition while concentrating on their careers. Libra may like to travel during the Gemini month, have relationships with foreigners, and publicly express their thoughts. If you’re a Scorpio, this is the month for dealing with issues surrounding death, sex and other people’s resources. More focus on relationships for Sagittarians. Capricorns are spending more time communicating about health and work related issues. Aquarians are having fun during this time of year and spending more energy on their loved ones, creativity, and children. Pisces have home and family as their focus.

April 19th—May 20th

A low-level Taurus is completely focused on the material plane and they want what they want when they want it. They are very good at accumulating and managing possessions, they adore luxury, and they’re very sensual. They have trouble connecting with the Spirit because they are so fixated on the physical level. They’re excellent at making money, stick to a project until Hell freezes over, and have a green thumb. Taurus is stubborn, whether they are high or low level, and don’t change easily. They are the most fixed and possessive of all the signs. A low-level Taurus can repress his or her anger until it erupts and does great damage like Hitler, or Jim Jones, or Pol Pot, Idi Amin, or Saddam Hussein.

High-level Taurus’ know how to connect with the Spirit in a practical, grounded manner. They are wonderful in nature and often find the Holy located in it. High-level Taurus’ are loyal to their friends and will stick with them past Hell freezing over. A High Level Taurus has learned to control their desires, not repress them but put their physical drives into perspective. The High Level Taurus is very creative. The women and men are comely and appealing. According to Alan Oken in Soul Centered Astrology, a High Level Taurus can “stimulate the presence of Light in any form which matter may take.”

During the lush month of Taurus we can find the Spirit in nature, focus on our gardens, and develop our projects and celebrate the Earth.

For Aries, the Taurus month is best for working on finances, for Taurus, this month is best for expansion and personal development, for Gemini, Taurus is a time for spiritual retreat and relaxation, for Cancer, meeting with friends and involvement with groups, for Leo- career development, for Virgo it’s a great time to travel, to follow a course of study, to publish a book. Libra should be looking at joint finances, focusing on sexual issues. Scorpio should be working on relationships. Sagittarius will be dealing with health and work issues, while Capricorn will be paying more attention to children, lovers, and creative matters. Aquarius will be focused on the home and family, real estate. Pisces will be associating more with neighbors, siblings, and will be focused on all types of communications.

Glenn Beck, Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh: Killer Instigators

Since Obama has been in office the number of mass murders has accelerated. Generally, the perpetrators are depressed, lonely, and isolated men who have lost their jobs or been thrown out of the house in contentious divorces. In numerous cases, the killers have been listening to instigators of hate like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, or Alex Jones. There's a video of Glenn Beck, for example, in a four-minute skit that shows him dumping what appears to be gasoline on a fellow sitting at a table while Beck rants and raves about Obama.

ARIES

Mar 20--Apr 19

Listen

Aries is a stimulating sign. Because it’s the first sign of spring and ruled by Mars it is impulsive and able to share its enthusiasm and attract followers. It likes to dominate and to initiate projects but often has difficultly completing them after the first exciting impulse. Aries can be naïve like an adolescent. A lower level Aries can be selfish, always charming, but egocentric. It’s me, me, me most of the time. Aries seldom know how their actions affect others unless they start to progress on a spiritual level. A good example of a low level Aries is televangelist Pat Robinson who says thoughtless things and gets entangled with moneymaking schemes without considering the ramifications of his ill thought out actions.

A high level Aries, however, is no longer just interested in her or himself but is willing to take action so all beings have a chance for a better life. Spiritual Aries are great humanitarians and leaders like Al Gore, who has taken the initiative to bring the knowledge of the dangers of global warming to the entire world. Alan Oken in his book, Soul Centered Astrology, says Aries on a higher level “sees himself as an instrument to correct injustices and, if necessary, as an instrument of sacrifice for some high ideal…such an Aries works with the Plan of evolution and is in touch with his role in its unfoldment.”

If you’re an Aries this is your month to really initiate new plans and take charge of your life. If you’re a Taurus this is the time of the year when you spend more time by yourself, digging a little deeper into your subconscious motivations and coming to an understanding of your vulnerabilities and fears. Geminis will be quite social this month, being more aggressive in making friends and joining humanitarian groups. Cancers will take charge of their careers and get more public recognition while Leos will want to take trips, or consider higher education, or be suddenly more interested in religion or philosophy or publicly express their thoughts. Virgos will be focusing on their sexuality and wondering about death. Issues may come up about joint resources, debts, and taxes. If you’re a Libra, you’ll be focused on partnerships and be more aggressive with other people. Scorpios will focus on health and work issues while Sagittarians will be spending more time with their children and lovers, and expressing their creativity. Capricorns will be working on their homes and spending time with their families while Aquarians will be doing a lot more talking and writing, mixing it up with siblings and other close family members. Pisces will be working on money issues and figuring out how not to impulsively spend it.

Rush Limbaugh--a Brutal Bully and Negative Loner Brooding on Past Hurts

At first glance, Rush Limbaugh’s horoscope is an enigma. The Capricorn Sun Moon in Pisces combination is generally a positive one. Combining pragmatic ambition and leadership (Capricorn) with compassion and sensitivity (Pisces) as displayed by Martin Luther King, for example, should indicate a person who makes an outstanding contribution to humanity. Limbaugh with his poisonous diatribes as witnessed at the 36th Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on February 28th, however, has done exactly the opposite.

Aquarius Rising generally indicates an individual like Obama who displays detached objectivity, and courage in their support for progressive humanitarian solutions to the world’s knottiest problems. Limbaugh, however, is a radioactive retroactive.

Pisces

Feb 18—Mar 20

Sensitive to everything and everyone but having difficulty differentiating their own feelings from other peoples, Pisces people don’t discriminate and like chameleons, they can absorb personalities, feelings, values, and ideas. Many are overwhelmed by their feelings and try to blot them out through the use of drugs or alcohol. This makes things worse because their bodies are as sensitive as their minds and intoxicants are poisonous to their systems. As the last sign of the zodiac lower level Pisceans often have the feeling that they’ve been there, done that and they can’t find anything that engages them. They are world-weary and can become cynical, thinking nothing is worth the time and effort to make a difference.

Higher-level Pisces are sensitive and compassionate but have learned to channel their overwhelming feelings into helping others. They are self-sacrificing and creative. They have the rare gift of being more interested in others than they are in themselves. In this egocentric and selfish society, it is such a relief to know a high level Pisces.

When the Sun is in Pisces it’s time for letting go of things, people, situations, the past to get ready for the astrological New Year which is Spring, when the Sun goes into Aries next month. Letting go, while necessary, is often not pleasant and that’s one reason Pisces can be a sorrowful sign. Pisces always seems to be dealing with loss. Besides letting go of the old to usher in the new, this is a month for creative projects, particularly music, and taking nature walks. It’s a good month for compassion, as long as we don’t wear other people’s misery like a cloak.

If you’re an Aries you’ll be doing more inner work this month, getting ready for your entrance upon the scene at the Spring Equinox. While you like to be direct and a go-getter, you subconscious has another idea and plans to initiate now get sabotaged while you might feel spacey and disorganized. Taurus spends more time with friends and working in groups, humanitarian concerns take up more time and energy. Gemini finds that career possibilities float to the surface and there’s a longing for more creative outlets in their profession. Cancer may like to travel during this month or focus on higher education or their spiritual path.

Leo finds that sexual issues and concerns regarding joint resources are more important while Virgo is focused this month on relationships, coming to the realization for the umpteenth time that they’re often attracted to underdogs.

Libra will find that it’s more focused on work and fellow employees. Health issues may surface or more time is spent on improving their health. Scorpio will enjoy more time with children and lovers, creativity will be satisfying. Sagittarius will be focused on the home and family while Capricorn will be taking more short distance trips and consorting with siblings. Creativity expressed through writing is also an option. This is the month for Aquarius to spend time on their finances, which are often confusing. Is a budget possible?

For Pisces, this is the month to come forward and be more direct, to be seen and recognized for the kind and creative soul that you are.

Jupiter in Aquarius

January 5—January 18, 2010

With Jupiter in Aquarius during the next year, there will be an expansion of technology, and more contact with cosmic awareness, greater participation in groups and with humanitarian concerns. There will be support for innovations and inventions. Individual religion will be more syncretic, willing to include a study and awareness of other traditions.

The Air Signs: Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra individuals will all benefit with Jupiter in Aquarius.

If you’re an Aries, you’ll expand your friendships and your involvement in groups. Taurus will be focused on more humanitarian work and see their career expand this year. Their career could involve publishing or education. Gemini will travel more or follow up on advanced education, studying subjects that involve humanitarian concerns while Cancer will find benefit through sex, other people’s resources, and inheritance. Leo will expand their relationships and gain benefits from partners while Virgo will find opportunities with work, particularly jobs that involve education and publishing and their health should improve. Libra may have a new love affair, benefit through children, hobbies, creativity and gambling. Scorpio can change residences or expand their living environment, or gain through property. Sagittarius can expand their relationships with neighbors and siblings, do more research, and communicate more. Capricorn will find that their finances get better. Aquarius will be more likely to present themselves to the world and attract more people into their lives with their expansive personality. Pisces will find that their spiritual life expands and they’ll enjoy more time by themselves.

Pluto in Capricorn

Pluto travels into Capricorn on November 27th and will remain in that sign for 15 years. While in Sagittarius, the dark sides of Christianity, Islam and Judaism have certainly been revealed. In Capricorn, the dark side of government has already begun to be unmasked. Bush brought it into the White House, but Obama and Biden along with their cabinet are savvy enough to begin the long process of getting the evil out. Meanwhile there will be lots of turmoil and perhaps a complete transformation of our government by the time Pluto makes its return in the US chart in 2023. It will be imperative to cut out the spiritual cancer that’s infecting our country as well as controlling the corporations that are destroying the planet. On a personal level many of us are feeling pressured and pressed for time, stressed out. We’re feeling that we must get something accomplished. Some of us think we’re running out of time that something very big is coming and we have to prepare for it. Others are falling pray to the pressure and are being overwhelmed by dark energies.

There are positive things to say about Pluto in Capricorn. We will have the discipline and endurance to correct the overwhelming problems that plague us.

Governments may be turned on their heads but by the time Pluto travels into Aquarius in 2023 we will be dealing with these issues from a united front. In order to contend with Islamic terrorism for example, all developed countries will have to invest in the Middle Eastern nations to help educate their citizens and to raise the standard of living. John Edwards called for the end of poverty in this country. There will also be a global effort to get rid of poverty. With Al Gore’s work we can see the beginnings of a united effort against global warming. He has spoken about the necessity of efforts to control global warming and at the same time, to uplift third world countries economically.

Personally, the use of Pluto energies is very tricky. If we allow ourselves to fall into the dark side at this late in the game, we’ll reap misery and probably death.

This is boomerang energy. If we use it for intimidation we will reap the whirlwind. However, wherever Pluto in Capricorn is in our charts can bring great healing and powerful assistance from higher sources if we use it for universal welfare.

On a personal level Aries will be dealing with Pluto in the 10th House, career and public standing will go through a complete transformation. Aries can be either be obsessed with world power or have a career that promotes transformation of humanity. Taurus will discover with Pluto in the 9th house, that their viewpoint of the world will be overturned. Many will work towards the transformation of the world through publishing and higher education. Geminis will find that Pluto transforms their attitudes towards sex and death while it’s in the 8th House. Cancer will be in for a major change in Relationships when it’s in the Seventh House while Leo will be seeing the transformation in their health and working environment. Virgo will have their attitudes toward children and creativity, upended. Throwing the light on dark energies through creative projects will be a factor in Virgo’s transformation. Libra will find that their attitudes toward family and home will be transformed. The necessity of major renovations will probably come up, with the possible inclusion of alternative power sources. Scorpio will experience a transformation in their thought processes and in their relationships with neighbors and siblings. Sagittarians will see major changes in how they make money and their relationship to material resources. Capricorns will see their appearance change and they’ll have to take care that they don’t become more controlling and pushy than usual. On a positive level they will be in the vanguard for transforming governmental policies. Aquarians will be working on dark energies in their unconscious, bringing them up to the surface and into the light. Pisces will see their friendships go through changes and more energy could be expended in humanitarian groups.

Election Day and the Mayan Calendar

I’ve been studying the Mayan Calendar on and off for several years now, but recently I’ve been reading Barbara Hand Clow’s, The Mayan Code, and Carl Johann Calleman’s, The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness. I wrote about the calendar in a recent post and claimed that the end of the 2008 cycle ruled by the god of darkness, Tezcatlipoca, on November 13th meant that Obama would win the presidency and usher in the new cycle for 2009, which is ruled by the goddess of birth, Yohualticitl. With these two writers talking about the inevitable but positive transformation of consciousness that is occurring now, it is obvious that McCain does not fit with this cycle because he represents the old and the destructiveness of the Republican Party, while Obama who represents the new, does. There are other indications that the Obama presidency is meant to be.

The Economy and the Transformation of Consciousness

Not only is the present Saturn/Uranus opposition posing the dilemma of change (Uranus-Obama) versus stagnation (Saturn--McCain) on a political level, it’s also raising the need for a change in the economic structures. Saturn, the planet of loss, limitation, and karma just traveled from the Fourth House of home and property in the US chart to the 5th house of the Stock Market and the opposition to Uranus is demanding that we change the structure of the stock market, financial, and banking sectors by doing a much better job of regulation. This is combining the best aspects of the two planets: change of structure and adding regulation.

The Saturn/Uranus opposition will peak on election day and in early February, but Saturn will continue to impact the US chart with a square to Mars soon after the election, also stimulating the Mars/Neptune square. This is interesting because the Mars Neptune square is the natal aspect that reveals this country’s pseudo masculinity. Besides playing havoc with the stock market, could Saturn expose a Rambo plot of aggression against another country like Iran to try to shore up Bush’s sagging legacy?

More About Palin

Before some of you guys get too excited about Sarah Palin’s debate performance and her winkin’ and noddin’, maybe you should read this:

My most recent astrological discovery about Sarah Palin supports the negative comments that some Alaskans have made about her. I read about her vindictiveness and how scary she is because of it. I thought about her joy in hunting and killing animals and wondered if her Sun degree symbol would verify this side of her personality. I was horrified by what I found. In The Zodiac Image Handbook, The Fixed Signs by the Dutch astrologers, Helen and Willem Koppejan I read the following for her 22 degree Aquarius Sun: Under his forefeet, a furious bull is disemboweling a dog. At the right side, a man is opening up a human corpse. Is it his victim, or the subject of his pathological studies? This symbol containing a bull and a dog is not just an idle coincidence. How many of us can forget the quote from her Republican convention speech: The difference between a hockey mom and pit bull is lipstick.

The Opposition between Uranus and Saturn.

What seems obvious to anyone that can see through the Republican’s matrix is the ongoing battle between the old and new, conservative and progressive, which will culminate around the election in November. The aspect we are presently experiencing is Saturn (conservative McCain/Palin) in Virgo opposing Uranus (progressive Obama/Biden) in Pisces. The last time this aspect occurred was during the years 1964-1968. Then it was Uranus in Virgo opposing Saturn in Pisces.

Last night Psychic Chuck and I watched Across the Universe, which is a wonderful musical about the 60s and it reminded of what we went through during that time: the demonstrations against the war, the police arrests, and brutality. With the same Uranus Saturn opposition, we’re seeing it again during the Republican convention.

The progressive faction, Uranus, must ultimately win out, but if we’re smart, we will temper it this time with the discipline and control of Saturn. If we allow Saturn (McCain) to overwhelm the Uranian (Obama) impulse we will simply be putting off the inevitable change that will occur and make it more difficult to adapt to it.

Whether it’s preparing for global warming and pressing for alternative energy or transforming the economy to make it more fair and equitable for all our planetary citizens, to increasing diplomacy and ridding ourselves of the insanity of war, to making excellent health care available to everyone, we must progress into a new world.

As far as our personal lives go we must temper change (Uranus) with discipline (Saturn), holding on to the parts of our lives that work and changing those that don’t.

Aries needs to change her mental constructs, which are impeding her progress and hold onto the discipline and stability of her physical health. Taurus needs to work for progressive change in the society and in groups while holding on to the stability of his relationships with his loved ones. Gemini will need to be progressive and accept change in her career and with her public image while holding onto the security she experiences with family members and in her home. Cancer can work on progressive change in his philosophy and with his spirituality, traveling to foreign countries while holding on to the roots he has established in his neighborhood. Leo needs to learn how to change in the sexual arena and with her attitudes toward death and joint finances while she can stabilize her life with the disciplined handling of her own finances. Virgo needs to progress in his relationships while stabilizing his own identity. Libra will have to accept progressive change in her physical health and working environment while stabilizing her mental health. Scorpio needs to make changes in how he expresses his creativity and his relationships with loved ones and yet hold on to his dreams, visions, and friendships. Sagittarius will be changing her domestic environment and family relationships while keeping her career and public image stable. Capricorn will be accepting change in his relationships with his neighbors, siblings, and immediate environment while holding on to his philosophy and spiritual beliefs. Aquarius will be working on changing her income and financial circumstances while stabilizing her joint finances and sexual circumstances. Pisces will be transforming himself in order to stabilize and hold on to his relationships.

McCain Finds a New Beauty Queen

She’s a…she’s a partner and a soul mate.—McCain commenting on his choice.

I haven’t seen anyone else say it but I think I know why McCain chose Sarah Palin for his running mate. He wants to have sex with her. Now that’s a real maverick: a president having sex with his vice president. It’s never been done before, has it?

Last night I had this revelation based on the following information: He, apparently, asked her to consider the vice-presidency despite her having no experience in national or international affairs, after talking to her on the phone only once six months ago. He just recently met her face to face before proclaiming his decision to the world. He is attracted to her because she was once a beauty queen like his first and second wives. Just recently, while speaking at a political rally, he suggested that his second wife Cindy, who was once a Jr. Rodeo Queen, participate in a topless beauty contest, which was being staged at the same time as the rally. We all know what happened to his first marriage after he returned from Vietnam only to find his once beautiful wife disfigured in an automobile accident. Now his present wife is looking pretty old and skanky. I think he thinks he’s due for another beauty queen.

As a postscript, some political pundits have wondered why, if he was going to pick a woman, he didn’t choose someone experienced and respected like former Republican senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison? Get real. Who would want to have sex with that old bat? After all, McCain’s just another old fart that wants them younger and younger.

Gad, I hope the American people are smart enough to dump this old wienie in the next election.

Sarah Palin: Dan Quayle with a Pony Tail?

“As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does everyday?” Said less than two of months ago when asked if she would accept a nomination for Vice President.

I just saw the CBS video of McCain introducing Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska as his vice-presidential choice. I try not to watch most Republicans because I just start shouting, which Psychic Chuck doesn’t like, but I wanted to see what McCain said about her as well as see how she presented herself. As usual, I found myself shouting back at McCain’s lies and then grew disappointed when the video cut off as she entered the room with her husband and children.

McCain finally seems to realize that his criticism of people losing their homes and having friends like Phil Gramm who call the middle class whiners is not going to win any friends or influence us to vote for him. Today, the opportunistic Virgo mouthed a bunch of platitudes about how he’s going to save the suffering masses with the help of his VP choice that has no experience whatsoever.

About Virgo

August 22-September 22

With the Sun traveling through the sign of Virgo we’ll spend the next month being more critical, analytical, focused on work and service, paying attention to detail, health and diet.

As with every sign there are lower and higher level types. Lower level Virgos can be critical, carping, and have low self-esteem. Unlike more organized and clear thinking Virgos, they can be messy and confused. The Kabbalists say that the month of Virgo is the time for purification. Virgos are happy when they take the time to rid themselves of extra weight, addictions, and superfluous materialism.

While some people think that Virgo women can be petty and sexually cold, the higher types enjoy their sexuality and are loyal partners in treasured relationships. Almost all Virgos have a good sense of humor, and are witty and adaptable. Some Virgo comedians include Bob Newhart, the late Paul Lynn, and Lewis Black. While lower level Virgos have trouble with work, higher-level natives are happiest when they are of service to others. In his book, Soul Centered Astrology, Alan Oken says that low levels “have a horror of open spaces and will fill the air with excessive words, closets with superfluous clothing, and minds with needless thoughts.”

Higher levels, on the other hand, are “discriminating, know what to keep, what to throw away, and where to find work that allows creative self-expression, benefits and serves others in the process, so that they may have a clearer understanding of their function and role in society.” The more spiritual the Virgo becomes the more they he or he is focused clearly on world service.

During the month of Virgo, Aries will be focused on work and health, while Taurus will be spending time with children and lovers, going to parties and working on creative projects. Gemini will find home and family more important while Cancer will be communicating and studying more, spending more time with siblings and neighbors as well as on short distance trips. For Leo, the Virgo month is the ideal time to pay detailed attention to financial matters. For Virgo it’s time to come out of their August hibernation and shine. Libra, on the other hand, needs to spend more time by itself, relaxing and withdrawing while for Scorpio it’s friendship and group involvement time. Sagittarius is focused on career and being more public. Capricorn likes to travel and is concerned with higher education and learning. It’s time for Aquarius to be focused on sexual issues and other people’s resources as well as having more interest in what happens after death. It’s Pisces’ month to work on relationships.

John Edwards Makes a Big Mistake

One of the first things I notice about the chart comparison between John Edwards and Rielle Hunter, his former lover, is the prominence of her Venus in Taurus Mars in Scorpio opposition aspecting his Venus in Taurus square his North and South Node. This was clearly about sex. Venus in Taurus is very sensual; Mars in Scorpio is possessively sexual. This sexual liaison, however, was not the right direction for him with this configuration square his North and South nodes. He said in an ABC interview that he had become narcissistic and ego-centric, which certainly coincides with the South Node (direction we should avoid) in Leo, negatively expressed as self-aggrandizement. With his North Rode in Aquarius, he is on the right road when he works for humanitarian concerns.

Why John McCain is Bad for America

It’s one thing to look at McCain’s chart as we've done in a previous article and decide whether he would make a good president. It’s a whole other thing to set up a chart comparison between the candidate and the country he will govern. Astrologers call comparing two charts the art of synastry. The synastic relationship between McCain and America is quite ominous.

Tim Russert Dies During Saturn Return

Well-known, highly respected and well-liked NBC commentator Tim Russert died on Friday a couple of months ahead of his exact Saturn Return. Saturn returns to its natal spot once every 28-29 years and when it occurs it’s time to re-evaluate our direction, and in his case his work and his health, because Saturn is in the sign of Virgo, the health and work sign. Evidently, he couldn’t do either in time. It didn’t help that Saturn was opposing Jupiter, which means it was suppressing the good luck planet, and Uranus had been opposing his Mars since May. This aspect indicates that an abrupt shock could occur and would be brought about if he was failing to pay attention to the need to change his work and health priorities. The article in Wikipedia claimed that he had diabetes, which is highly likely considering he was overweight. He was probably taking medication for it, but his diet may have included too many carbohydrates, which some doctors still believe are healthy for diabetics. Overweight individuals are particularly prone to a carbohydrate addiction. Uncontrolled blood sugar caused by carbohydrates can lead to many lethal ailments, heart problems being a major result.

for a Sexual Chimera

I guess Elliott Spitzer would rather live in sexual fantasyland then be governor of New York. The Venus conjunct Mars and possibly Moon all in Leo square Neptune in Scorpio indicates that the lure of sexual ego gratification is so overwhelming that he was nabbed in a prostitution ring and has had to resign. You got to figure that his subconscious committed an act of sabotage. He obviously did not want to be governor any more, despite any protestations to the contrary. Even Bill Clinton was never implicated in prostitution scandals.

Pluto in Capricorn

Pluto is now in Capricorn and will remain there until June and come back again in November for a 15 year stay. While in Sagittarius, the dark side of Christianity, Islam and Judaism has certainly been revealed. In Capricorn, the dark side of government has already begun to be unmasked. Bush brought it into the White House and it’s going to take a savvy man or woman to begin the long process of getting the evil out. Meanwhile there will be lots of turmoil and perhaps a complete transformation of our government by the time Pluto makes its return in the US chart in 2023. It will be imperative to finally cut out the spiritual cancer that’s infecting our country as well as controlling the corporations that are destroying the planet. On a personal level many of us are feeling pressured and pressed for time, stressed out. We’re feeling that we must get something accomplished. Some of us think we’re running out of time that something very big is coming and we have to prepare for it. Others are falling pray to the pressure and are being overwhelmed by dark energies like the actor, Heath Ledger.

John Edwards calls for the end of poverty in this country. There will also be a global effort to get rid of poverty. With Al Gore’s work we can see the beginnings of a united effort against global warming. In fact at Davos this past week he was talking about the necessity of efforts to control global warming and at the same time to uplift third world countries economically.

Huckabee is a Virgo, which makes him puritanical at least on the surface. He is, after all, a Baptist minister. Underneath he’s something different. He has 5 Leo planets and a massive Venus (love), Mars (sex), Pluto (obsessive and dark), Sun (ego) conjunction in the sign of the Lion. With Saturn (restriction) in Scorpio (sex) and possibly the Moon (emotions), this is a fellow that is obsessed with sex and this obsession is probably the reason that he used to be so fat. The fatter he was, the less likely he would be able to express his lust. Lust and the ministry don't go together unless you're Ted Haggard. Apparently, he also has very fat children. One of them slit a dog’s throat while he was a counselor at a Boy Scott camp. Needless to say he was fired but then Huckabee tried to have it covered up.

Capricorn

December 21--January 20

Cancer will focused on relationships while Leo will be focused on health and its working environment. Virgo will, believe it or not, be enjoying itself this month, particularly with hobbies, lovers, and children as well as creative projects. Libra will be focused in the home and with family members. It’s a good time for them to do some house renovations. Scorpio will be interested in siblings, neighbors, will do more short distance traveling. For Sagittarians, money will be important and the state of their finances, while Capricorn will be coming out and displaying themselves more this month. Aquarius will be in retreat, trying to gather their energies for their astrological year which begins next month while Pisces is interested in being practical about displaying its compassion and working on a community level.

Jupiter in Capricorn

All earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) will benefit when Jupiter goes into Capricorn on Tuesday December 18th. Although Jupiter may feel constricted in the sign of Capricorn, all earthworks and projects, financial and career concerns will be in focus for the next year. Jupiter’s optimism will be tempered with the practical realism of Capricorn.

Aries will progress in its career as Jupiter affects the 10th house of career and public reputation. Taurus may travel, go back to school, publish and publicly express their thoughts while Gemini will be focused on other people’s resources—emotional and financial, sexual energies, death related issues and may gain an inheritance. Cancer will see an influx of relationships, personal as well as professional and the possibility of making a commitment. Leo will benefit in their work and will make progress with their health. Virgo will have a creative year and benefit through their children and loved ones. Libra will be focused on the home and family issues, property sales will prosper. Scorpio will be communicating more, particularly with neighbors and siblings, taking more short distance trips, expanding their communications in all ways. Sagittarius will be having better luck with their finances. Their financial base will expand. This is the year for Capricorns to spread their wings and be more social and outgoing. Aquarius will discover their spiritual support and refuge and benefit through working behind the scenes, getting in touch with their unconscious and working through institutions. Pisces will find that their group associations and friendships expand; working on economic issues in a community setting will be satisfying.

Diane Feinstein—Insecure, Frightened and Unbalanced

November 5

Diane Feinstein is too feminine to be a Senator. No, I don’t mean that femininity precludes doing a good job as a politician. What I’m talking about is the dominance of feminine planets in her horoscope. She is unbalanced with 7 possibly 8, if the Moon is in Cancer, of her planets in feminine signs. She has a stellium of planets in Cancer and Virgo. You’d think she’d be happier staying at home and baking cookies with that combination. Instead she is barreling ahead making bad decisions: her latest is her stated support for Mukasey, the Bush choice for Attorney General, despite his refusal to repudiate water boarding as an acceptable means of coercion. Her positions since 9-11 have, for the most part, allowed Bush to carry on his desecration of our constitutional rights. According to Wikipedia, Feinstein “voted to give the attorney general and the director of national intelligence the power to approve international surveillance of the communications of Americans entirely within the executive branch, rather than through the special intelligence court established by FISA. Many privacy advocates have decried this law and Senator Feinstein's vote in favor of it.”

Iran’s Ahmadinejad has been demonized by George W. Bush, the Neo-Conservatives and the state department and yet the two of them have several astrological factors in common. For example, both are water signs, strongly impacted by Neptune. George Bush is a Cancer with a square (discordant) aspect from Neptune (planet of illusion, delusion) while Ahmadinejad is a Scorpio with a conjunction aspect (in the same place) to Neptune. Both men are seriously deluded. George still thinks he’s talking to a god who is telling him to continue the slaughter in Iraq and is whispering in his ear about attacking Iran. Mahmoud believes there are no homosexuals in his country and that the holocaust didn’t happen.

Larry Craig: Another Hypocrite Bites the Dust

The first thing I notice about Senator Larry Craig’s chart is his Venus conjunct Uranus. Sometimes this means that the person with this aspect is interested in unconventional (Uranus) love affairs (Venus). Karl Rove has a Venus/Uranus aspect. It doesn’t always point to homosexuality, but it can. I’d say in Larry’s case, it does. There have been rumors about him for years.

Sean Hannity of Fox news was in an uproar this evening talking about people having sex in bathrooms. Why would anyone do it? He wondered. Why would anyone risk their life and position in the Senate? Although I agreed with Hannity, he didn’t say anything about Craig’s hypocrisy, at least, while I was listening to him, and that’s what ticks me off the most. I understand that a Republican from a right wing state, like Idaho, doesn’t feel comfortable coming out but he did his best to vote against every bill linked to equal rights for homosexuals. Larry Craig is a bastard. Who knows how many gay men and lesbians have been hurt by his pandering to the religious right wing in his state. He’s just like the rest of the closeted Republicans who refuse to take any responsibility for their actions.

Larry Craig has two things in common with Bush. Both are Cancers with Saturn in that sign. Both have no major aspects to that Saturn. They are self-absorbed (low-level Cancers) and they are completely irresponsible (Saturn unaspected). George doesn’t believe he made any mistakes in his entire presidential career. How could he? He relies on God’s advice. God doesn’t make mistakes. George denies that Iraq is a mistake that he and his administration botched up the response to Katrina and are still botching it up, leaving poor people to rot down there in hell hole Louisiana. Larry Craig also denies everything. He denies he made any sexual advance to the officer, he denied he ever had sex with a man; he denies that he is homosexual. His denial and homosexual compartmentalization makes it easy for him to justify his homophobic political positions.

Howard, a gay friend of mine, said Larry Craig was pathetic. He almost felt sorry for him, an old bald homosexual who had lived his entire life, denying who he was. He could almost feel sorry for him if his self-hatred hadn’t led him to try and punish others who accepted their sexuality while he obviously couldn’t.

Another Dick Cheney is a Psychopath Article

I sound like a broken record even to myself but people are still continually asking me what’s wrong with him. “He’s a psychopath,” I tell them. “He was born that way.” I found a website that lists traits of people with this character disorder and he’s got most of them. It’s disturbing to fully realize that the Vice President of the United States has a major personality disorder. However, Paul Roberts, a conservative who used to work in the Reagan administration, believes that the entire Bush administration is made up of dangerous psychopaths. Moon in Aquarius

Scooter Libby didn’t scoot out of judgment today as Judge Walton performed a great humanitarian service (Aquarius) by sending him to jail for 2.5 years for lying and obstructing justice. There’s no question in my mind that Scooter is just the tip of a very dirty iceberg with Cheney being the base of the filth, but punishing Scooter is better then punishing no one at all for destroying Valerie Plame’s career and endangering numerous CIA agents. When I looked at Scooter’s (that’s hardly a name for a man, more a name for a dog-- Cheney’s dog) chart yesterday, I thought he was being the sacrificial patsy for the VP. Is he that enamored with his old boss, that’s he’s willing to go to jail rather than reveal what Cheney told him to do? I’m sure Scooter was surprised by the sentence. Transiting Mars is opposing his Neptune today, which brings disappointment and confusion in its wake. Cheney and his partners in crime probably told Scooter that he’d get out of being sent to jail if only he’d keep mum about the VP’s involvement. That obviously didn’t work.

Transiting Pluto is doing its damage with it’s malignant square to the North and South Node. The great German cosmobiologist, Reinhold Ebertin in his book, The Combination of Stellar Influences, says the following about the negative aspects of this Pluto Node combination: The state of feelings one’s association with other people is a burden, the feeling of being cramped in ones style through the influence of others, with subsequent suffering because of this. More can be ascertained by looking at what Ebertin says about Scooter’s Mercury, which is conjunct the North Node and also squared by Pluto. Negative aspects of Mercury/Node include: the calculated use of contact and relationship with other people for one’s own personal benefit, the inclination to chatter or gossip (about Valerie Plame?). A negative Pluto/Mercury combination reveals: Hasty thinking and speaking, irritability, premature action, impatience, overestimation of the self.

Overestimation of the self and arrogance are traits that are mentioned again when we read about the degree symbol for Libby’s Leo Sun Sign. The Zodiac Image Handbook—Fixed Signs by Helene and Willem Koppejan describes the symbol as: The angel of the Sun touches the earth with the point of his flaming sword, making sparks fly before a crouching lion with its head raised. It is caparisoned with a saddle and plumes. They interpret the symbol in the following way: There are two sides to this character. The left side is the lower level of the over-decorated crouching lion. This side embodies the features of what is the danger for Leo: spiritual laziness, indolence, outer glory and no true will to humble and discipline oneself. People on this lower level think too much of themselves, overestimate their own prominence and are puffed up with their own self-importance. Scooter, however, has a greater destiny if he would use his higher side: he is to be the messenger of the creator of love light and heat and what is more, to earth this with the flaming sword or with the words of the spirit. These people are irresistible in their urge to perform great deeds of power and glory, and they will sparkle and radiate. The Koppejans equate Libby’s degree with Prometheus who stole fire from the gods for the benefit of mankind. They say, “Prometheus was right to do this, but his fault was high-handedness.”

More Pluto aspects include a trine to the Sun, which although a positive aspect, obviously indicates that he is facing dark energy. Using this negatively, Ebertin writes that Pluto Sun indicates “physical suffering, martyrdom, separation by Providence, again overestimation of self and arrogance.” Perhaps we could say that due to his pride and arrogance he is paying the price by going to jail. I can’t help but think that maybe he’s been separated by Providence from his criminal colleagues, including the vice-president, in order to get in touch with the positive possibilities of his Leo Sun degree.

Martyrdom is mentioned again in Ebertin’s description of the Saturn/Pluto combination that has been plaguing Libby for quite awhile as transiting Saturn has been conjuncting Libby’s Pluto. Ebertin goes on to say that this combination indicates, the pursuit of purely egoistic aims. A person who is prevented by others from reaping the success that is due him as the result of hard work. The application of force or of compulsion, self-destructive energy. The loss of one’s fortunes or possessions.

I hope that he gets in touch with his higher side in jail and reveals the Vice President’s mendacity and responsibility for this Valerie Plame debacle.

Moon in Sagittarius

We can usually expect a chuckle when the Moon is in Sagittarius and I got one today from my friend Steve. This is what he wrote in an email:

“I was listening to Mitt Romney on C-span this afternoon at a "Town Hall" meeting. He's really a mediocrity but so are most Republicans. One woman asked him what he would do about the fact that we are in such low esteem around the world. She said people outside the US think we are all liberal. She wanted to know what Mitt would do to get out the conservative message to people in other countries.

How can anyone be so disconnected from reality?

She should just shoot herself.”

I got that response from Steve after I sent him a link about Al Hurra television which is “the U.S. government's $63 million-a-year effort at public diplomacy broadcasting in the Middle East, run by executives and officials who cannot speak Arabic, according to a senior official who oversees the program. That might explain why critics say the service has recently been caught broadcasting terrorist messages, including an hour-long tirade on the importance of anti-Jewish violence, among other questionable pieces.”

Employing no Arab speaking officials at an Arab television network is as logical as discharging all the Arab speakers in the U.S. military because they were gay.

Those right wing conservatives are real cards.

Moon in Scorpio

Today I heard two Scorpio stories. Scorpio is the sign of sex and death and these stories both dealt with the latter and not the former, unfortunately. The first story was much worse than the second, which had a somewhat happy ending.

A woman I know, I'll call her B, described what was happening to her daughter and son-in-law in Iraq. Because they're married, both are stationed in the Green Zone in Baghdad. Her daughter has developed many infections, including cysts on her legs and one of her kidneys but she wasn't getting any medical help until B called the Red Cross and she was taken to a hospital. Meanwhile, B's son-in-law had broken his ankle and despite it being a compound fracture, he was neither treated nor taken off duty. While on guard duty, he passed out and dislocated his shoulder and hurt his head. Still no treatment. B's daughter has told her mother that there are many more soldier suicides. Initially, she seemed to like her duty in Iraq, telling her mother that the Iraqis really need our help. Now it's a moot point. If our soldiers can't help themselves, how can they help the Iraqis. B was a registered Republican. I wonder if she's planning to change her registration? Today she prefaced her remarks with, "Our government is not taking care of our soldiers over there." B said she was trying to get them out of Iraq. She'll certainly get more help from our member of Congress, an anti-war Democrat and a woman, then she'll ever get out of any of those sociopaths in the Bush administration, including the delusional commander-in-chief.

The second story involved a friend's description of the intense Scorpio day she had yesterday. In the middle of the ringing phones and orders up the yazoo(she owns an internet business, Africantreasures.com),one of her cats dragged a baby bird--a Grosbeak into the house and was ready to devour it when K rescued it and put it in the bathroom with a couple of drops of Bach's Rescue Remedy on its beak. Unfortunately, moments later, her kitty captured another baby bird, killed it and dragged it into the house. Before K could do anything to stop it, one of her two dogs gulped it down. The rescued baby bird was taken to Wild Bird Rescue.

Saturn Takes Out Jerry Falwell

May 15, 2007

Today I thanked God that Saturn, the grim reaper and God’s judge, was allowed to take out Jerry Falwell. No more mischief making for this troublesome bully boy, who with Mars (hostility) opposing Uranus (erratic individualism) and square Pluto attracted hostility wherever he went with his discordant divisiveness.

Saturn made a perfect conjunction today to Falwell’s Leo Sun and down he went. Leo energies influence the heart and Saturn in Leo means that Falwell was felled by a heart block. There were other astrological aspects impinging upon him as well.

Mars (anger) just went into Aries this morning, perhaps increasing his irritation and accelerating his adrenalin. The Uranus Jupiter square that peaked last Thursday had also been involved with Falwell’s Venus, which makes me think that he was having relationship problems, perhaps with his wife, perhaps with a new (Uranus) relationship that was getting out of hand. Maybe he just wanted a change in his marriage but didn’t know how to go about it without leaving his wife.

Although beneficial Jupiter was making a positive aspect to Falwell’s Sun, it wasn’t enough to mitigate Saturn from lowering the boom. On the other hand, maybe Jupiter gave Falwell what he really wanted, an escape, and offered us all a gift as well.

Pope Ratzinger: Blurting out his Dark Side

May 14, 2007

Pope Ratzinger has once again put both feet in his mouth, a victim yet again of planetary energies and his own myopia. While in Brazil he has offended the Indian leaders who described him as “arrogant and disrespectful,” by claiming that the Catholic Church had purified them. Further, he said that going back to their native religion would be a regressive step. Adding more to their outrage, the Pope said that the Indians had happily welcomed the arrival of the Catholic priests at the time of the Spanish conquest because they had a secret longing for Christianity.

How can we forget the Pope’s Mercury (communications) conjunct Uranus (unpredictable, iconoclastic) square Mars (impulsivity, aggression) in blabbermouth Gemini and his offensive remarks to Muslims in September of last year. Then as now, Pluto is the culprit, as it is still affecting his 10th house of reputation and public recognition. Presently, it’s making an inharmonious square to his Mercury square Mars. Add transiting Mars to the Pluto aspects on Sunday and it appears that the Pope’s repressed hostility is coming up to the surface. With Pluto (the dark side) still in the sign of Sagittarius (religion), Pope Ratzinger is exhibiting the shadow side of Christianity.

Back in September we also discussed the planetoid Eris and its discordant influence and it’s prominent conjunction to the Pope’s Mercury Uranus conjunction and square his Mars. He has again sown dissention where he had hoped to bring fallen away South American Catholics back into the fold.

It’s unfortunate that the Pope is not aware enough to control his response to astrological energies. Although with Pisces rising, he’s motivated towards the spiritual life, he’s also unclear about who he is or what is lurking in his subconscious. Pisces rising has a difficult time clearly seeing themselves. He’s probably too old for increased self-awareness, but there’s always hope.

Cho Seung-Hui: A Capricorn Run-A-Muck in a

Run-a-Muck Gun Culture

April 20, 2007

Capricorn is a sign that likes to be in control but when its inner control breaks down Capricorn really loses it. In a society with better gun control, Capricorn Cho Seung-Hui might have not have had the opportunity to run-a-muck and commit the worst massacre in U.S. history. Korean culture and the violent U.S. society Cho was living in also had an important part to play in this terrible tragedy along with Cho’s astrological, psychological, and spiritual dynamics that led to the Virginia massacre.

Alberto Gonzalez: Bush’s Valet

March 29, 2007

According to Republican Party confidante and journalist Robert Novak, Republicans are telling him that Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez is incompetent and should be fired for his part in the dismissals of eight United States attorneys due to their perceived disloyalty to the president. Novak also writes that a credible source in the White House says that Bush will never ask Gonzalez to resign. Gonzalez has been Bush’s attorney for years, beginning when Bush was Governor of Texas but he acts like the president’s valet, and just like any rich man’s valet he’s allowed Bush to get away with murder and kept silent about it. "Even Ashcroft would push back at the White House when they pushed too far - Gonzalez, never," said Senator Schumer, who voted against Mr. Gonzalez' appointment after interviewing him… He totally saw his role as George Bush's lawyer."

Ann Coulter: The Weasel Turkey Strikes Again

Almost a year ago to the day I wrote an article about Ann Coulter. Since the putrid pontificator is at it again I'm reposting it before I send it to the archives. I've added a postscript because it ties in so well to the article I just posted on the Saturn Neptune Opposition. Friday she spoke at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference CPAC) in Washington, D.C., and said: “I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I -- so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

Ann, by the way, is a supporter of Mitt Romney. If you want to find out more about Mormonism and the author's experience with fundamentalism, read Robert Tanner's book, Two Horns of the Devil, sold on this website.

About Saturn Opposing Neptune

February 25, 2007

The Truth Will Make Us Free--Jesus

Saturn opposing Neptune will peak again on Wednesday, February 18th. This aspect has been creating difficulties for us for quite sometime. When planetary energies are in opposition, they are conflicted with one another.

Saturn, which represents earthy reality, karma, and limitation, has been in conflict with Neptune, which represents idealism, illusion, and spiritual awareness. With Neptune in Aquarius, many of us have been longing for a new spiritual attunement, but we’ve been broadsided by the reality of prejudice, bigotry, and the small mindedness, and even violence of those that practice fundamentalist religion. Fundamentalism wears the same clothing no matter which religion is followed, particularly the Western religious faiths of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.

Sociopaths in the White House

January 30, 2007

For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul-----Jesus

Dick Cheney could be in deep doo doo as Scooter Libby’s defense team refuses to allow their client to be a sacrificial lamb for the sociopaths in the White House.

I just finished psychologist Martha Stout’s book, The Sociopath Next Door. Although she says only 4 percent of the population has no conscience, I’m convinced that the Bush Administration includes more than their fair share. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a higher percentage in the White House now than there has been in any past administration.

The Nasty End of Saddam Hussein and

Another Bush Master Plan for Violence

It's another end to a fantastic week with the "well thought out" and "diplomatic hanging"of Saddam Hussein right at the beginning of EID, the Moslem holy days. It's still hard to believe that people in our government could be so incredibly stupid. As Ted Rall said, leave it up to a nation of frat boys to make a butcher like Hussein into a saint. Sunni Moslems now believe Hussein is a hero, after coming to the conclusion when he was dragged out of his rat hole that he deserved whatever punishment he received.

Psychic Vera’s Diary

December 27, 2006

This year I wanted to forget about Christmas.

It was difficult paying attention to it while this country is engaged in a war that is deeply ANTI-CHRIST. I tried to feel jolly during the month of Sagittarius, despite it all, but it just wasn’t happening. I couldn’t get behind cutting down a tree and decorating it or even dragging in a live tree to swelter in our overly heated house. The first stanza of a Lawrence Ferlinghettis poem, Christ Climbed Down, kept repeating in my mind:

Christ climbed down

from His bare Tree

this year

and ran away to where

there were no rootless Christmas trees

hung with candy canes and breakable stars

Robert Gates: Deceptive Sycophant

November 11, 2006

Gates is not like Rumsfeld. We don’t have to worry that he’s an erratic bully. Gates doesn’t have the Rumsfeld signature: Sun (ego) conjunct Pluto (bully) square Uranus (erratic). But he has something almost as bad. Neptune rules him. With his Sun conjunct Neptune he swims in illusion. He is as fantasy driven as Bush is with his Sun Square Neptune. In Gates, this delusional aspect is also conjoined with Mercury (thinking) and square Saturn (defensiveness and rigidity).

Election Day

I've been putting off writing this column because as an astrologer I don’t like to stick my neck out and make a wrong prediction. My 2004 election prediction got ripped off by voter fraud and voting machine tampering and I can’t say it won’t happen again, particularly with Mercury retrograding like it was in 2000.

Mark Foley: Another Arrogant and Hypocritical Republican

A student of mine once told me that male Virgos had difficult sex lives. Although he wasn’t a Virgo, he did know something about astrology and being a Scorpio he knew something about sex. Virgo is a sexually modest feminine sign and suits a woman just fine, Bill reasoned, but not a man. As boys, some Virgo men felt ashamed of their sexuality and repressed it. When they grew older all hell broke loose and they tried to make up for lost time.

Pluto is alive and well in America. Despite astronomers downgrading the planet by taking away its name and assigning it a number, Pluto’s influence (the dark side of the subconscious) remains clear in events occurring here and across the globe.

Rumsfeld and Lieberman:

Two Water Pigs in a Poke-- Buyer Beware

September 5, 2006

Donald Rumsfeld, a Cancer, and Joe Lieberman, a Pisces, are both water signs that have allowed their feelings to get in the way of dispassionate reason.

Water signs are by nature driven by their feelings, but feelings are neither logical or foolproof decision making tools. Feelings come and go and are simply energetic responses to environmental stimulus. They may be accurate or not, depending on the crystal clarity of the individual's understanding. For unconscious people like Rumsfeld and Bush, who is also a Cancer and relies on his "gut", feelings can't be relied upon. An emotional response is not the same as an intuitive response. While emotions are felt energetically like fear, joy, hate, lust, intuition is simply inner knowing. When we experience something intuitively, our feelings are generally not engaged.

The Possible Destruction of Israel?

August 10, 2006

Those who mindlessly support Israel, right or wrong, from President Bush on through the cheerleaders in Congress and the media, betray the security of the Jewish state. They are enablers who have encouraged Israel's dependency on the drug of militarism as a false escape from the difficult accommodations needed to bring peace to the Middle East.

Robert Scheer, "Israel's Dependency on the Drug of Militarism

I've been extremely worried in the last several weeks that the Israeli attack on Lebanon may well have pushed the Arab world over the edge, far enough over the edge to bring on the possible destruction of the state of Israel. The Israelis ill-conceived actions with the support of the stupid and dangerous Bush administration and Bush's poodle government in Great Britain have created a powerful Shite enemy with troops in Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran, willing to commit suicide to promote their religion and control the region, and destroy Israel.

The DaVinci Code, Opus Dei, and the Kali Yuga

May 23, 2006

Blessed be pain, loved be pain, Sanctified be pain…Glorified be pain!”

Josemaria Escriva

(The Way, 208)

Catholic displeasure with the movie, The Da Vinci Code, is rather disingenuous. While on the surface the criticism appears to be centered on the proposal that Christ was married to Mary Magdalene and they had children, the Church is actually more distressed that their power base, the lay order, Opus Dei, is being revealed in a dirty light. Although Opus Dei has tried to alter the perception by enlisting Time Magazine, and US News and World Report among other publications, as well as TV programs to reveal the "genuine" Opus Dei, there is still a suspicion that there is something untoward about this unusual "prelature", the only one of its kind in the Catholic Church.

Shake-Up in Bush Administration Leads to Ouster of President

April 20, 2006

New White House Chief of Staff, Joshua Bolton, has been very busy shaking up the Bush administration by demoting Karl Rove and firing Press Secretary Scott McClellan. White House insiders say Bolton is far from finished, however, and has apparently targeted the president, himself, for a White House coup.

Overheard to have said, "The Republicans are going to lose in November unless we get rid of these yoyos," it is conjectured that Bolton will claim the presidency himself to win back Republicans that have drifted due to Bush’s incompetence and lack of leadership.

America's Fake Machismo

America has a masculinity problem. Writer Linda Colley in the UK Guardian takes aim at this country's macho image in her article The Star-Spangled Fantasyland of the Fake and Home of the Bogus. She describes a country that presents a fake masculine image to the world, primarily by wimpy Republican politicians. Although her article is excellent she lacks astrological information that would explain the problem. Since Bush has been in office, it has been interesting to note how regular columnists echo astrological indicators without knowing or using astrology to back up their claims. Of course, in the "real world", astrology has no voice because the "dark powers that be" want to keep its veracity a secret.

Not all quadruple Sagittarians are weasel turkeys like writer and putrid pontificator, Ann Coulter. In her case, however, the plethora of planets ruled by the archer makes her bombastic, irresponsible in speech, and downright embarrassing. Two degree symbols for her Sun in Sagittarius at 16° and 23'(either 16 or 17 degrees) both describe a woman that displays low level Sagittarian traits. Other low level Sagittarians include serial killer Ted Bundy, South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond, and Spanish dictator Francisco Franco.

Alito Plagued by Neptune

Kate Michelman, president of NARAL Pro Choice America, writes in "Alito's Fantasy World" in the Boston Globe, that Alito and other right wingers are trying to turn back the clock to an America that never really existed. Referring to the movie, Pleasantville, and the 90s kids that return to the unreality of a 1950s situation comedy, Michelman claims that,"Samuel Alito's public record shows unequivocally that he is out of step with Americans on each of those fundamental issues--that he has chosen to reside in a 1950s that never really was, rather than the new century in which the rest of us live."

Living in a fantasy world is clearly due to an individual that is under the influence of Neptune and unfortunately, Alito, with his Sun (ego) and Mercury (thinking) in Aries opposing Neptune, is not only delusional but is also a prevaricator. He lies to others because he lies to himself. Like George Bush with his Sun square Neptune, Alito fails to see things as they really are but as he would like them to be. The negative aspects like the square and opposition make self-analysis much more difficult. And although Alito has Mars (aggression) and possibly the Moon (emotions) in Virgo, as well as Saturn in that puritanical sign, other than a square to Uranus and possibly the Moon, Mars has no other major aspects and Saturn is without prominent aspects to other planets at all.
