Mars is still very close to the earth and going retrograde in Pisces. People I talk to say that they have a lack of energy and focus. Women say that men are acting too aggressive. There have been many accidents in my neck of the woods. The car bomb killed the Shiite cleric in Iraq while Mars has been retrograding in Pisces and is closest to the Earth than it has been in over 60,000 years. More suicide bombings in Israel have occurred in retaliation for assassination of Hamas leaders.
On a personal level, stay alert and be circumspect. Don't allow your anger or impatience to create accidents and arguments with others. Mars will stay retrograde until September 27th. It will still be in Pisces until mid December. We will all feel a little more energetic after the 27th but, try to do something creative or spiritual with the energy until it moves into Aries because you won't have a lot of get up and go.
For the third time this year Mercury is retrograde until the 20th of September. The California re-call election has been postponed and the decision could go to the Supreme Court for reconsideration. Remember when Mercury was retrograde in November of 2000 and there was no winner until the Supreme Court decided to put the destroyer in the White House.
Swartzenegger pulled a Mercury retro when he said that "pumping was better than coming" on the Oprah Winfrey show. Oprah's audience(mostly women) didn't cotton to that kind of talk and his wife, Maria Shriver covered his mouth after he said it. During Mercury retrograde people say many things they shouldn't.
George Bush's dumbo talk about the war hasn't gotten him anywhere, either, while Mercury retrogrades. His poll numbers are slip sliding away. And how about that Cheney who is in Neptune dreamland. In his comments in a television appearance on the 14th, he still claimed that Americans were being welcomed as liberators and Iraqi government "had a relationship with Al Qaeda that stretched back through most of the decade of the 90's". Do you recall that the Vice-President has had Neptune aspects along with his buddy, George Bush, ever since he has been in office? Neptune is the planet of delusion, illusion and anyone (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Blair) that is under its influence for this long a time would be better off in another dimension because the reality of this world is just too hard for them to grasp.
On a personal level, with it retrograding through the sign of Virgo, the major emphasis is on paying attention to details and keeping your life clean. I've gotten some good result from mindfulness meditation. I can see all the details easily if my mind is not filled with garbage. Lack of attention to detail creates mishaps: accidents, breakdown of machines, miscommunication, thoughtless words. No reason to start projects now. Go back over old ones and think about what you're going to do when Mercury is no longer retrograde.
Uranus retrograded back into Aquarius on September 14 and will not re-enter Pisces until December 30. Those of you on the Pisces/Aquarius cusp will experience more changes, some of them mindboggling, and subconsciously, at least, you'll be very restless to try something new. If you're not thinking of ways to bring productive change into your life, the energy can express itself through accidents. This is particularly so since Mars and Uranus are in conjunction until October 3. Erratic and sometimes destructive responses to that energy configuration can occur. It was one of the lethal aspects that killed John Ritter when it opposed his birth chart Saturn.
We had the war in Iraq last March when Uranus moved into Pisces from Aquarius and now we've been experiencing the karma from that action as Uranus just went back into Aquarius. Bush wants 87 billions more for Iraq as our economy continues to tank and the chaos over there is overwhelming. Meanwhile Bush is trying to get the UN to step into our quicksand.
Uranus is the planet of the higher mind and as it moves into it's own sign of Aquarius again I've been having some revelations about our society. Sychronistically with Mars being so close to the earth triggering violence and accidents, Michael Moore's film Bowling for Columbine was issued in DVD. I was most struck by the contrast in that movie between the effects of guns on Canadian society and on our own and how much more violent our culture is than our next door neighbors. Much of it has to do with the fact that the rabid right wing has not usurped their political process as it has ours. Services like free health care and decent housing are taken for granted up north while here, the rich don't want to pay for them. Wretched living conditions in America and the terrible disparity between rich and poor produces more violence and chaos than in any other industrialized nation. I'm getting tired of living in a third class country.
continues to move through Virgo for the next year, giving help and advantage to that Sun Sign. There's joy in small things and artists will gain by paying attention to detail. There will be enjoyment in service and self-analysis. We can all gain by looking at ourselves with a critical eye, without being self-depreciating. All earth signs(Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) will benefit and Water signs(Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) will gain some advantage as well during the next year.
