Psychic Vera's Diary

Aug 6--Moon in Aquarius

I’ve failed to keep a running commentary on the political situation for several months now. Partly because Psychic Chuck and I’ve been ill with a long-standing virus, I’ve been unable to stomach (literally) the Republicans’ frantic attempts to discredit Obama and destroy everything he is trying to accomplish. They have no heart for the country. They just want Obama to fail so they can get back in power. I’m so sick of them and they are so disgusting, I haven’t been able to take the energy and time to write about them. Our individual lives and our country’s life are filled with danger and these political beasts with their Sun/Neptune delusion, cannot see it. Other delusional people misinterpret the danger and some of them blame it on our president because he is black.

I could have commented on other items of interest like David Carradine’s kinky death. His chart is full of it. I looked at it, but didn’t have the stomach to write on it. Then there was Michael Jackson—another individual I couldn’t focus on. When I’m sick, it’s too easy for me to get depressed—a hazard of being a Virgo—and I didn’t need to put my concentration on the terrible death of another talented self-destructive neurotic, who never seemed to do any work on himself save for the awful plastic surgeries that he tried over and over.

A couple of weeks ago, the media focused on the “stupid” arrest of Henry Gates, the black Harvard professor, who was handcuffed and taken away to jail for saying something in his own home that a cop didn’t like. Although Sgt. Crowley taught sensitivity training about race to other cops, he still gave Gates the impression that he was racially profiling him. Crowley didn’t like listening to Gates, a very critical Virgo, lambasting him about racial profiling. Was Obama stupid for calling the arrest “stupid”? Not really. It was a stupid arrest, but in this country, we like to run away like sewer rats from the truth. Maybe Crowley wasn’t racially profiling Gates, I’ll give him that, but handcuffing him and taking him to jail was certainly a stupid mistake. After Gates had criticized him, he should have just left.

Then there is Lou Dobbs, the business commentator on CNN. Just for a while, I liked him because he went after Bush, but now he’s taken his Libra fear of being out of balance to an extreme. He has the Sun conjunct Neptune, Jupiter, and Chiron in Libra square Mars in Cancer. I wonder if he’s a drinker with the Mars square Neptune He is certainly delusional with this configuration, particularly since he has been trying to give credence to the individuals who are claiming that Obama’s birth certificate is bogus. Also with Mercury and Venus in Virgo, Dobbs is looking for perfection and everyone that doesn’t measure up is derided. I’d hate to be his wife. I signed a petition asking CNN to get rid of him.

George Sodini—Gym killer

Another Libra that ran a muck, in a much more devastating way, is George Sodini, who murdered 3 women in a health club. If it weren’t for his blogs, we’d probably never know why he shot and killed them. He wanted to take out his anger on the faceless women that he felt had rejected him. Despite all of his efforts to change himself on the outside, he didn’t think he’d ever find a relationship, which is of primary importance to any Libra. There are two types of Libras—one is skilled in interpersonal relationships and has beaucoup social skills. The other is klutzy and has to learn those skills. He, obviously, was the latter type.

His Libra Sun sign was part of a T square. His extreme anger and self-destructiveness is noted by his Sun (Ego) square Mars (hostility and aggression). Strong inadequacy feelings are indicated by Sun (Ego) square Saturn (blockage). This aspect is reinforced by his relationship with his father who George felt was of no value to him. “My dad never (not once) talked to me or asked about my life’s details and tell me what he knew. He was just a useless sperm donor.” As part of this t-square, Mars opposes Saturn. Push me pull you, driving with your breaks on is how some describe Mars/Saturn. Mars=sexual energy, Saturn=blockage. He was a very frustrated man. George’s Venus (Love and Relationship) in Scorpio trine Mars (Sex) in Cancer could have made him a good and sensitive sexual partner if he would have modified the Mars opposing Saturn. Venus is conjunct Neptune, however, indicating that he was overly idealistic about relationships and unable to see what the problem was.

It’s a depressing fact that despite working on his “outside,” he never did any work on his inside. He seems to have realized that he did need some work on his emotions and that he was too emotionally guarded (Moon in distant Aquarius) but there’s no mention of counseling or doing inner work. That’s part of the collective evil of the culture. It can be so superficial and materialistic, that many never understand that there is no real progress in life unless we engage in inner work. He mentions being very unhappy with his fundamentalist church, the minister, and a particular parishioner. Unlike Robert Tanner, (you can buy his book, Two Horns of the Devil, on this website or at Amazon or Barnes and Noble online. If you use the Amazon portal on this website, we’ll get a little bit of money for it.), who also got no sustenance, spiritual or otherwise, from his fundamentalist church and searched out a counselor, George Sodini, apparently, failed to do likewise.

The transits for August 4th give us some information. Like many other white men who are violently acting out their problems, the Jupiter, Neptune, and Chiron conjunction is stimulating aspects in their and George’s natal charts. With George, this conjunction is applying to a natal conjunction with his Chiron opposition Uranus. I wrote previously that the triple conjunction is expressing itself in several ways: the Obama administration is having success with diplomatic, humanitarian efforts; at the same time, delusional individuals like Sodini (Neptune) are overreacting (Jupiter) to wounds that don’t seem to heal (Chiron). Because the conjunction is in Aquarius, the problem concerns the individual’s difficulty in gaining support in his community and feeling part of a greater whole.

Personal Health Issues

With that triple conjunction in my 6th House of Health squaring my Moon, I’ve been having a virus that doesn’t heal.

Since Mercury entered Virgo (the sign of health) on August 2nd, I decided to go back to my old study of alternative medicine to cure our virus as well as communicate (Mercury) about it. I started reading about herbs, flower remedies, and other health modalities 30 years ago and now with Saturn back in Virgo I’m researching again, this time with the help of the internet. Yesterday I discovered a wonderful website: earthclinic.com and found several possible cures for a long lasting virus. I’ve started taking 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar in an 8 oz of water. I was first introduced to apple cider vinegar in a book titled Folk Medicine by D.C. Jarvis. My grandmother owned the book and she used it to cure the warts, which had sprouted all over my hands. She’d rub in the castor oil and I’d wear plastic gloves at night to keep the oil off the sheets. The warts completely disappeared in about 3 months. I still use this cure for moles and warts and other skin problems. Besides the Bragg organic apple cider vinegar that I just bought from vitacost.com, I also bought coconut oil and zinc (50 mg per tablet) which Earthclinic recommended.

I’ve been having trouble sleeping for quite some time and having Saturn in my First House is not making me feel any better. Saturn is restriction and lessons to be learned and in the First House of the Personality and physical body, I’ve been paying the price of not regulating my diet well enough. Last Friday night, my blood sugar spiked at over 300 mg (normal is below 100) because I ate too much and too many carbohydrates (2 flautas, a ½ pint of macaroni salad, and some sour cream cheddar potato chips). I couldn’t sleep much of the night and, after eating all that junk, I felt lousy. Virgo is the sign of health and although we seem to be fixated on it, a lot of us like junk food a little too much.

Consequently, I’ve gone back to the South Beach Diet. I’m back on Phase 1, which severely limits the carbs (including high glycemic veggies like potatoes and all fruits, as well as breads, rice, sweets etc.) for 2 weeks. This is a better diet than the Adkins is, and I lost 10 pounds about a year ago before I started eating badly again. Just losing 10 pounds lowered my blood sugar so much that I didn’t have to take Metformin very often. Like cigarettes, which I kicked almost 20 years ago, I’ve got to admit that I’m addicted to carbs and have a hard time not eating them once I start. Former FDA commissioner David Kessler in his book, The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite says that the lethal combination of sugar, fat, and salt in our foods alters our brain chemistry to such an extent that we can’t easily control what we’re eating.

I’ve used various methods to try to cure my insomnia. Most nights I can get to sleep but I if I awake around 3 AM (not the witching hour but the demonic hour), I can’t get back to sleep because I worry and can’t control it unless I get up. My doctor gave me a prescription for Trazadone, but it only worked twice before I had nightmares. I also tried mullein to relax and it gave me nightmares (it was billed as a good dream herb). Melatonin only works once or twice when I take it. Benadryl works but I don’t like taking that every night. I also gave up cold and flu medicine. I’ve now begun to take magnesium, but only at night. Otherwise, I fall asleep in the morning sitting up in my chair. I feel embarrassed when my book falls to the floor even when no one is watching.

If I get too anxious, (I used to hyperventilate), I take 4 drops of Rescue Remedy (a Bach Flower Remedy) and that usually helps. Flower remedies are really quite remarkable. I’ve improved my psychological state with various remedies like Walnut that helped me adjust to menopause and my daughter moving to Boston to go to college. Websites that sell and discuss flower remedies are http://www.bachflower.com, http://www.pegasusproducts.com.

The Economy

I’m sure there are millions trying to get to sleep and failing due to worry and stress over the present economic situation. People I know are running out of unemployment funds. Several are trying to sell their homes because they’ve been on unemployment for over a year and can’t make the payments.

I know a wonderful couple that just sold their home at a big loss because they lost a lot in the stock market crash and their business has failed in this economy. He has chronic fatigue syndrome and every setback makes him worse. They do have a property on the coast that they’ve already paid for, but no house. Their trailer isn’t ready for occupancy so she bought a freight box for her and her partner to live in. She keeps referring to the novel, Cannery Row by John Steinbeck and the couple that lived in a tank during the Great Depression as role models for her new living arrangements. I’m sure she’ll do the best she can with it. But, what about him? How will he manage living in a freight box with his chronic condition? I can only hope that living a life detached from material niceties will allow him to see what is important. And, maybe that will help move him closer to having a spiritual life, which he doesn’t have now. He’s a Jewish Gemini and overly rational, but at the same time, overly sensitive. It’s difficult for him to have any hope.

The main problem with this economy is the lack of jobs. The Obama administration should create another WPA, which created millions of the jobs during the Roosevelt administration. Artists, musicians, and writers even had support from the government. A country cannot thrive without art and creativity.

Obama is trying to head off an astrological configuration that will be close to perfect in August 2010. Saturn will be in Libra, Uranus in Aries, and Pluto in Capricorn. This t- square was in orb during The Great Depression, although Pluto was in Cancer then, Capricorn’s opposite sign. In charts of countries or businesses, the aspects of these slower moving planets can last much longer than they do in a person’s chart. Added to this t-square is Jupiter in Aries, conjunct Uranus, and Mars in Libra. And yes, it will be affecting Venus in Cancer in America’s Second House of Money. Let’s hope Obama will have short-circuited this very difficult configuration. If the Republicans have any success with their stonewalling, however, we’ll all be in for a horrible shock.
