Not only is the present Saturn/Uranus opposition posing the dilemma of change (Uranus-Obama) versus stagnation (Saturn--McCain) on a political level, it’s also raising the need for a change in the economic structures. Saturn, the planet of loss, limitation, and karma just traveled from the Fourth House of home and property in the US chart to the 5th house of the Stock Market and the opposition to Uranus is demanding that we change the structure of the stock market, financial, and banking sectors by doing a much better job of regulation. This is combining the best aspects of the two planets: change of structure and adding regulation.
The Saturn/Uranus opposition will peak on election day and in early February, but Saturn will continue to impact the US chart with a square to Mars soon after the election, also stimulating the Mars/Neptune square. This is interesting because the Mars Neptune square is the natal aspect that reveals this country’s pseudo masculinity. Besides playing havoc with the stock market, could Saturn expose a Rambo plot of aggression against another country like Iran to try to shore up Bush’s sagging legacy?
There is another aspect that is dramatically affecting our capitalistic system. Pluto has been hanging around the 8th House of debts and other people’s resources (the 8th house is also death and sex) for the last year and will travel into the 8th house again for a long stay. It will make a perfect opposition to the US natal Venus in the Second House of Money in February of 2009 and will continue its influence next year and through 2010. Pluto in Capricorn is another transformative influence on the value we place on money and possessions. During this materialistic age, we’ve bowed down to the golden calf instead of developing true spirituality and learning to love others as ourselves.
Unregulated capitalism never works and we’re heading for another Great Depression astrologically and economically if we don’t change the party presently in charge in the White House. The astrological aspects of the next Great Depression are coming up in 2011 and 2012 when Saturn/Uranus and Pluto will be in a very difficult configuration. Enlightened governance under the Obama administration can modify these aspects just like personal enlightenment and awareness can alter cycles that affect our birth charts but our country really has to move fast to stop a potential destruction derby.

I’ve been reading Barbara Hand Chow’s book on The Mayan Code, and Carl Johan Calleman’s, The Mayan Calendar and The Transformation of Consciousness, which explains the Mayan Calendar. Many of you know about the end date Dec 20, 2012, although some like Chow and Calleman say 2011. There are cycles within cycles in the Mayan Calendar and the present cycle, which will end November 18th, is under the influence of the god of destruction: Tezcatlipoca.
So, two weeks after the election the reign of the god of darkness will end. During the next year, we’ll be under the influence of the goddess of birth: Yohualticitl. Hallelujah. I interpret this to mean that Obama will win the election and we’ll be starting on a new path to transform the country but the birth will be difficult.
In 2010, we’ll be under the dominion of Tlauizcalpantecuhtli (I dare you to try to pronounce that), the god before Dawn. That sounded ok to me until I looked up him up in The Gods and Symbols of Ancient Mexico and the Maya. He represents a fierce and dangerous aspect of Venus rising with the Sun in which he can inflict damage on certain classes of people and crops. Psychic Chuck thinks that during this period there might be riots that finally scare the rich into working on equalizing the economy.
Unlike some writers, Barbara Hand Clow is optimistic about the end of the Mayan Calendar (which began in 3115 BCE) and the beginning of another of these long cycles. According to Clow in her earlier book, The Pleiadian Agenda, we are moving through the Photon Band, which we only do during two astrological ages--the Age of Leo(beginning in 10,000 BC—time of the Sphinx) and the Age of Aquarius. We are being flooded with light now and although many can’t handle the increased enlightenment and energy that is raining down, many others are finally able to see the direction we need to take to shape a positive transformation of our planet.
