One of the first things I notice about the chart comparison between John Edwards and Rielle Hunter ,his former lover, is the prominence of her Venus in Taurus Mars in Scorpio opposition aspecting his Venus in Taurus square his North and South Node. This was clearly about sex. Venus in Taurus is very sensual; Mars in Scorpio is possessively sexual. This sexual liaison, however, was not the right direction for him with this configuration square his North and South nodes. He said in an ABC interview that he had become narcissistic and ego-centric, which certainly coincides with the South Node (direction we should avoid) in Leo, negatively expressed as self-aggrandizement. With his North Rode in Aquarius, he is on the right road when he works for humanitarian concerns.
Her Sun/Chiron (wounded ego) conjunction square (obstacle or blockage) his Mars (anger, aggression, sexual energy) was not particularly good for her either. With the conjunction straddling his 10 house of the public and reputation, it appears that her ego wound help ruined his reputation. She also has an added wound to her Sun with its conjunction to Saturn. Men, particularly father, have caused her a lot of pain.
I don’t want to let Edwards off the hook for his stupidity, but her Uranus/Pluto conjunction square his Sun indicates that she pressured or actively intimidated him. She was no weeping wall flower.
There was an emotional communicative rapport with their Water sign Mercurys in trine aspect. With his Mercury in Cancer, he may have wanted someone he could talk to on an emotional level and get some support. Although with her Mercury in Pisces square his Moon Jupiter conjunction in Gemini, she must have gotten her feelings hurt (Pisces) by his Gemini verbal assault. Her Moon in Cancer may have been near his ascendant and/ or Uranus, which makes her emotionally responsive to him but he’s going to act too erratically (Uranus) for them to hold on to a secure relationship (Cancer).
As far as the rumor that her recently born daughter is his child, I have to say it’s unlikely, although not impossible. Astrological configurations are passed down from parent to child and I can’t see a lot of patterns that Edwards shares in common with Francis Quinn Hunter. The baby has more patterns in common with the supposed father, Andrew Young, a former Edward’s aide.
With Edward’s Sun and Mars still in line to receive a whammy from Saturn limitation (he’s already received the square to his Jupiter/Moon conjunction affecting his normal upbeat disposition), he has a ways to go before he satisfies his karma. Although his actions are typical of male politicians, they are deeply disappointing for all those who were hoping that he could take an important seat around the Obama table.
And what of Elizabeth, whose intelligence and caring support for the afflicted certainly earned her the right to claim a place in the next administration. Although she’s already had her Saturn return, her trials aren’t over yet. With Saturn ready to square her Mercury Mars conjunction, she will have to have the patience or Job and the discipline not to react with negative thinking, particularly now because she’s still fighting Cancer and needs every positive thought she can hang on to.
