The Pope Figures It Out, At Least Temporarily

The Pope finally seems to know who his real enemies are. Can’t you just imagine what’s going on in his mind as he stands beside Evil Incarnate in this photo. “Get thee behind me Satan,” he’s got to be saying.

He finally got good reviews for his homilies as he traveled around the United States. I didn’t read one complaint about him putting his foot in his mouth like he’s done in the past. He has Mercury (communications) conjunct Uranus (erratic and unpredictable) and the discordant planetoid Eris square his Mars (impulsive action) in his natal chart which got him into trouble when he made remarks that were offensive to the Muslims in September of 2006 and in May of 2007 when he offended the indigenous peoples of Brazil who described him as “arrogant and disrespectful,” by claiming that the Catholic Church had purified them. Further, he said that going back to their native religion would be a regressive step. Adding more to their outrage, the Pope said that the Indians had happily welcomed the arrival of the Catholic priests at the time of the Spanish conquest because they had a secret longing for Christianity.

But let bygones be bygones and with this visit maybe the pope has learned his lesson. He castigated the United States for our treatment of the Native Americans, and the African Americans, he made known his worries about the most powerful nations of the world controlling everything; he repeated his dislike of the Iraqi War and our mistreatment of the Earth, and he actually met with victims of clergy sex abuse as well as visited a Jewish Synagogue.

Interestingly enough, his past offensive remarks were made when Pluto (the dark side and intimidation) was stimulating his Mercury (communications) square Mars (impulsive action). Presently he has Pluto in his 10th house of public standing still square Uranus but it’s not aspecting his Mercury. Instead, we see the rather radical change of Uranus being stimulated by Pluto the planet of transformation. Pretty heavy duty. Jupiter (good luck and expansion) striding through his 10th house doesn’t hurt as it makes a positive sextile to his Jupiter in his First House in Pisces (expansion through compassion).

I hope he doesn’t go back to his open mouth insert foot remarks, though, when Pluto retrogrades back into Sagittarius in June and starts squaring his Mercury again. This won’t be particularly good for his health because Saturn will be making a square aspect to his natal Saturn again from the 6th house of health to his 9th house of religion in July.
