I guess Elliott Spitzer would rather live in sexual fantasyland then be governor of New York. The Venus conjunct Mars and possibly Moon all in Leo square Neptune in Scorpio indicates that the lure of sexual ego gratification is so overwhelming that he was nabbed in a prostitution ring and has had to resign. You got to figure that his subconscious committed an act of sabotage. He obviously did not want to be governor any more, despite any protestations to the contrary. Even Bill Clinton was never implicated in prostitution scandals.
Venus conjunct Mars in Leo is a strong sexual drive driven by the need for attention and ego gratification. Men with Mars in Leo demand to be admired for their sexual prowess and will try to make up for deep seated insecurities by engaging in risky sexual behavior. With this sexual significators making a stressful aspect to Neptune, the planet of fantasy and illusion, we can imagine that Spitzer was engaged in a sexual chimera. Or as Psychic Chuck said, “I wonder if he likes to dress up as Bo Peep or somethin’.”
Despite this man’s high IQ (he passed his law entrance exams with a perfect score), he’s an idiot. Instead of getting his ego satisfied by dealing with corruption and going after white collar criminals including those on Wall Street like he did when he was Attorney General of New York, he wants his ego stroked by somebody who could care less about him. All she wants is the money. How could this kind of sexual charade bring ultimate satisfaction to anyone?
We are plagued in this country with a national horoscope that has a Mars square Neptune. Masculinity (Mars) is all hung up in fantasy (Neptune). From Rudolph Valentino (who was gay, by the way), to John Wayne, to Sylvester Stallone, to Chuck Norris, Americans have admired these male bimbos. Then there are the sports figures that are considered paragons of masculinity and the politicians that pursue homosexual liaisons while they legislate against the people they are having sex with.
Spitzer’s transits tell us more about what is happening right now. He has natal Saturn in Capricorn which is like having Saturn in the 10th house. This placement always indicates that the holder has to guard their reputation or down fall is possible. Hitler is a good example of what can happen with Saturn in the 10th house. Transiting Pluto is near a conjunction to that Saturn. Transiting Mars is in opposition to that conjunction, adding frustration and suppressed anger to the mix. At the same time transiting Saturn is close to a conjunction to natal Pluto. Double Whammy. Pluto is, of course, the dark side, so putting it together with Saturn is like setting an atomic bomb off in the Albany State House. Transiting Venus (love and relationships) in the sign of Aquarius (kinky) just passed his natal Chiron (the wound that never heals) in Aquarius. Rather than sex, though, most of these aspects are about power, abusing it and losing it. He’s abused it, he’s lost it. A promising politician felled by a sexual compulsiveness used by his enemies to wrest power and destroy the potential for all the good work he could have done. Where have we heard this before and when will it all stop.
There is a caveat to Pluto. The dark side is transformed if we put a light on it. Elliot has a chance to redeem himself if he can face down his shadow. With Chiron in Aquarius, he could go along way in healing his wounds if he could continue with his humanitarian work. All is not lost if he can confront himself and use what he learns to help redeem a society that has seriously gone off its track.
