The Primaries and the Ga Ga Obama Excitement

I’m really getting a headache from the primaries and the ga ga excitement over Obama. I keep trying to get stirred up about him because it seems that he’s going to be the Democratic choice and I do feel a little surge when he first starts speaking and then it all falls flat. He’s still not saying anything to me. Not like John Edwards was or even Hillary is now. I’m trying to figure out what people see in Obama but I’ve got to admit I’m flummoxed. He’s good looking, he speaks well and …

It’s a similar feeling to the perplexity I felt I after 9-11 when the entire country was thinking that George W. Bush was a wonderful man. While many people felt sad, frightened and angry at the hijackers, I felt sad, frightened and angry at Bush’s government. While so many Americans were flying flags from their car antennas, I was still burning with rage at Bush and his henchmen, for not paying attention to the warning signs, for sticking their heads in the Saudi sand.

I don’t mean to equate Obama with Bush. He’s a much better man but still there’s this thing about glamour, illusion and Neptune that I don’t like. We don’t see reality when Neptune is strong and when it is brought to our attention that we are under a Neptune delusion in a Neptunian fog we just don’t believe it. It’s the Matrix all over again. Bush has a Sun square Neptune and a lot of his buddies have a strong Neptunian influence. The United States has a Mars square Neptune (that’s why we project fake machismo of a John Wayne, Rambo, and Chuck Norris). I hate to mention it again but Obama’s only major Sun aspect is a square to Neptune. That’s why he’s so nebulous. He’s a perfect hook for all our hopes, folks. A wonderful African American we can all relate to. He talks, talks, and talks about hope, and change and reconciliation. The reconciliation deal is really Neptunian, an illusion. Why would he think that we could be reconciled with these bully boy Republicans. How do you treat a bully on the playground? You don’t make nice with him. You slug him before he pops you. I remember the story my ex-husband told me about how he took care of a bully when he moved to a new school in the 8th grade. He picked out the toughest bully in the school and when they were both in the bathroom, he threw him across the room. He introduced himself that way and he didn’t have any trouble with him after that.

Obama has charisma. That’s what it’s all this excitement is about. Tom and I were talking this evening and he wondered if only men seem to have charisma in this culture. That’s probably the main reason that Hillary is lagging behind now. It’s also astonishing to me that so many columnists like Frank Rich and Arianna Huffington and TV hosts like Chris Matthews are so overwhelmed by the Neptunian Obama. They can’t see through the matrix either. It’s not that Obama is a sleaze or a fool or a danger like Bush. He’s a good man but one that hasn’t been tested and may be too soft to deal with the crises that we’re facing in this country. The other day I had two visions. The first was a fireball roaring toward me. I stepped out of the way and let it burn past. The second vision was of a boulevard along a beach and as a bus came down the street, a giant wave enveloped it. Perhaps these doom and gloom pictures were just personal but I had a feeling that they were meant as visions of the collective. Bush has managed to screw up this country so badly, we need someone that is tough enough to contend with it. Despite how tough Macho McCain tries to be, he’s a fractured man, a burnt out old man that has no business running for president.

Hillary* is tough enough but the voters are in love with Obama…

There’s nothing we can do but stay out of the way of the fire ball that’s coming.

*Hillary using her Scorpio sting on Obama is not a pretty sight and it’s pushing possible votes for her away. She’s getting the wrong advice from her campaign gurus. I guess she’s feeling desperate but she’s got to start acting from a higher consciousness place. She should focus on what she can do for this country in lieu of Bush’s disastrous 8 years in office and forget about bashing Obama.
